It was the Gans Baai MTB race, one of my favourites and one of the harder 45km races on the calender. This is also a special event for me as we have a beach house there, and I do a lot of training in the summer holiday in this area. Riding over the weir. I felt strong, was having a good time and filled my bottle and hydration pack thinking that I won't stop again.

For the trip to Heidelberg this weekend we decided to take Alicas car instead of taking my bakkie as we usually do. This meant a rethink of what I take along as her Clio really is tiny. With no useful boot space whatsoever. As you can imagine I refused to leave the MTB at home, so I had to persuade Alicia that Ill make a plan. With it being a hatchback I reckoned just pop the back seat down and put everything inside.
