The Unpaved Road To Adoption

Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Never mind that we have paid 5 figures already for our adoption. We met our contractual obligations and paid the large amounts on time and in full. Are ya kidding me? Speaking of bending over…. I lived through the procedure and for my peers; it’s not that bad - really. The doc is working on my plumbing and I should be better soon (You can relax, I won’t blog about it anymore). The next day my daughter was back at Mommy and Me class and the moms were back i...Get her undressed...

The Unpaved Road To Adoption: Traveling with Baby

http://www.roadtoadoption.blogspot.com/2008/01/traveling-with-baby.html

Thursday, January 3, 2008. We made it through the holidays. There were some trying times, but we did it. There was only one time I had to shoot daughter up with Benydril while flying. The syringe was always at the ready, but other than some serious wiggling there was little crying. You and her when you inevitably. Get her undressed, getting the diaper, wipes and baggies out of the diaper bag with one hand. The balance, quickness and using one hand confidently should be an Olympic. Baby throw up is intere...

The Unpaved Road To Adoption: Mom Goes to Camp

http://www.roadtoadoption.blogspot.com/2007/10/mom-goes-to-camp.html

Tuesday, October 9, 2007. Mom Goes to Camp. My family went on our first family vacation last week. We headed to the Sunshine State or is it the Orange State? Whatever, we went to Florida! Hubby and daughter spent 6 days playing at the park and going to the beach. They were one with nature when she went around collecting beautiful shells on the white sand and numerous cigarette. Butts to add to her sand pail. Ahh. Boris Becker, Maria Sharapova. So I was there for five days. I won't get in to all the t...

The Unpaved Road To Adoption: A rock in my skull

http://www.roadtoadoption.blogspot.com/2007/11/rock-in-my-skull.html

Thursday, November 29, 2007. A rock in my skull. That phrase actually was part of my day today. Even though every bone in my body wants to hit the couch and take my own afternoon nap, I had to come home and blog about our toddler experience today. So here it goes. So I could call and ask if these things are good ideas before I decide to do it. The answer from today's experience would have been good idea, bad timing! Little one above the fireplace. I also thought we should add to my in-laws bookshelf ...

The Unpaved Road To Adoption: The Princess and the Pee

http://www.roadtoadoption.blogspot.com/2007/10/princess-and-pee.html

Wednesday, October 31, 2007. The Princess and the Pee. So I'm a hypocrite. Ok so option #2. Sure enough when the task was complete the shutters came flying open! As she stood there next to her super potty, it was singing the potty song and I realized looking down that she was peeing. "Good girl" I said encouraging. Next time darling. Can you sit down on the potty and pee instead of standing next to the potty and peeing all over the floor! This is going to be more difficult than I thought. Mom Goes to Camp.

The Unpaved Road To Adoption: May 2007

http://www.roadtoadoption.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 26, 2007. Wild and Crazy - NOT. Well, I went ahead and got the mani. In pink for our trip. This was after I purchased more baby food and some must have pink Nike pool shoes (for her). I know she isn't walking yet, but I want to be prepared in case she decides to walk for the first time at the pool! And probably getting a horrible headache didn't sound worth it so we could "live it up". Maybe I'll regret it or maybe I'm just getting old. Friday, May 18, 2007. PINK IS THE NEW BLACK. Cold Wate...

Road to Addis

The journey of a family to bring home not one, but two little girls from Ethiopia. Monday, September 5, 2011. Our friends' livingroom was full of people. The kitchen island was full of mostly untouched snacks. There was a hospital bed for Victor up against the wall. And what do you do in this situation? It's Monday and he's still alive, but the latest update said his lips are turning blue. Saturday, September 3, 2011. I learned this one day at Starbucks. A long road less travelled. But one that is worth the wait. Monday, May 2, 2011. I am in a very bad place right now.
