https://robertaskey.wordpress.com/2009/09/06/napa-where-the-wine-comes-from

Posted by: Robert Askey. September 6, 2009. Napa, where the wine comes from. During my excellent stay with Lynette and Charlie I took a day trip out to the Sonoma and Napa Valley wineries. Napa Valley Winery July 2009. I have included a large picture as it was such a stunningly beautiful day and scene. The winery, as seen from the back-road where I discovered it. I had no idea that this enormously lovely place existed. I was just driving around ‘exploring’ and I happened upon it. Looks like a great trip!

It also shows in grey and blue where I have yet to reach. The end of my great journey is Denver but the precise route I shall take to reach it is not yet settled. I think I have travelled about 3200 miles so far but I have not done an exact calculation recently. And some more musings along the way. What I want to know is…? Hi bob, have b...

Roberta Simpson Brown | Meet the Queen of the Cold-Blooded Tales

Roberta Simpson Brown - Meet the Queen of the Cold-Blooded Tales. Roberta Simpson Brown is known by fellow storytellers as the "Queen of the Cold-Blooded Tales" for good reason. Her chilling stories are set in familiar, contemporary settings-family rooms, farms, campgrounds-with an undercurrent of something very, very scary pulling the reader into the undertow of terror. Roberta and Lonnie's book of true ghost stories is out now and is published by University Press of Kentucky.

Tread softly... | Sabbatical travel writing

Posted by: Robert Askey. May 2, 2011. I’ve decided to re-start writing this blog to pick up on some of the stories and images and reflect on what I learned and where things might go from here…. The final stage in my Sabbatical journey took place in Colorado. I was so pleased I had decided to go from West to East, San Francisco to Denver (via Canada! As the last leg in the mountains meant glorious Fall colours and best of all…snow! Posted by: Robert Askey. September 25, 2009. Eastgate Clock, Chester.

Cumin Roasted Yams with Poblano Peppers. Roasted cumin and the smoky heat of deep green poblano peppers is a perfect counterpoint to the sweetness of yams. Ruby yams have a rich orange color, but any yams will do. Simple to prepare and great cold in a salad the next day. Pure magic. 4 - 6 portions. 4 medium yams (about 2 lbs.), peeled and cut into long slices (about 8 slice per yam). 2 Tablespoons olive oil. 1 1/2 Tablespoons ground cumin (1 1/2 1/2 Tablespoons). 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper.
