DAT BV, a company that develops and manufactures amphibious vehicles, was investigating the feasibility and marketability of an amphibious firetruck. Amphibious firetrucks could be useful as first response vehicles in water-rich municipalities as a faster alternative to fireboats. Current firefighting equipment is not suited for use in and around the water, and switching gear in the middle of a rescue mission wastes precious time. That's why I designed the world's first amphibious firefighting helmet.
