A Kid Lit Blog. Friday, December 30, 2016. On December 7th of this year, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor in my left parietal lobe. I think I will use this blog to document what's been going on. It has been very helpful talking about this to my Facebook friends, neighbors, and family. The shock of it all was just too great to keep inside. I just had to share. I don't mean to spread the dread around, but you guys can handle it! And I have no shame in admitting that I can be needy. We are all ONE family.

Just think of all that dust! Apparently, my little neighborhood understands this. We brought together (like a book potluck) over 100 children's books for the Snohomish Book Cafe. DAT BV, a company that develops and manufactures amphibious vehicles, was investigating the feasibility and marketability of an amphibious firetruck. Amphibious firetrucks could be useful as first response vehicles in water-rich municipalities as a faster alternative to fireboats. Current firefighting equipment is not suited for use in and around the water, and switching gear in the middle of a rescue mission wastes precious time. That's why I designed the world's first amphibious firefighting helmet.
