9 months as an English teaching assistant in Blois. Dimanche 24 août 2008. Some highlights of my past two weeks, since I haven't been updating with details:. Took the train jaune into the Pyrenees. Crazy local goat's milk curd/ cheese. An awesome art exhibit inspired by Rabelais all over Montpellier. 24 hours of straight trains. The world's largest cukoo clock. Karl Marx's birth house. Two new countires: Luxembourg and DENMARK (and Sweden tomorrow). The world's smallest coffeeshop. 26 août 2008 à 01:13.

Robin! En France!: octobre 2007

http://www.robinenfrance.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

9 months as an English teaching assistant in Blois. Dimanche 28 octobre 2007. On Saturday, we wandered the city, seeing all of the main attractions. We got falafel and frites, went to a cafe that was a hit with literary greats, and played in a playground that had some of the best playground equipment I've ever seen. Then we went to the natural history museum, where it was the opening weekend for the new dinosaur exhibit. So it was totally packed, but free! That's all for now! Publié par Robin en France.

Elana's Theatrical Ramblings: Science Fiction Theatre (no, I'm not talking about the tv show with the robot where they watch cheesy movies and comment on them)

http://queenofturnips.blogspot.com/2008/08/science-fiction-theatre-no-im-not.html

Sunday, August 31, 2008. Science Fiction Theatre (no, I'm not talking about the tv show with the robot where they watch cheesy movies and comment on them). The first, Monster in the Dark. By local group FoolsFury. The dialogue may have been dressed up a little). However, Monster in the Dark. My second (more recent) encounter with science fiction theatre was Crowded Fire's. Production of Liz Duffy Adams' new play, The Listener. I am excited to see how science fiction theatre and futuristic plays will cont...

Elana's Theatrical Ramblings: May 2008

http://queenofturnips.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 13, 2008. Lest we forget this is actually supposed to be a blog about theatre (whoops! I want to talk a little bit about a production which, most likely, none of you have seen or ever will see.  That production is Figaro. Figaro left me with a strong desire to see (and explore) the potential of film (particularly live-action film) and theatre to act together, to create and refine tension, and to capture (and at times compete for) the focus of an audience. Elana's Theatrical Ramblings: November 2008

http://queenofturnips.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 23, 2008. A post with many links. In other news, I've been seeing lots of plays. Highlights include: a TOTALLY BADASS site-specific production of Macbeth. At Fort Point in San Francisco (this play deserves a post.no, MANY posts unto itself. I've been putting off writing about it because it was just so freaking incredible words won't do it justice.); Mary Zimmerman's latest lovechild, The Arabian Nights. Also deserving of a post); a lovely play called Blessed Unrest. A post with many links.

Elana's Theatrical Ramblings: And now for something completely ridiculous...

http://queenofturnips.blogspot.com/2008/08/and-now-for-something-completely.html

Sunday, August 31, 2008. And now for something completely ridiculous. This just in: Jesus Christ was not a frog. Of all the blasphemous things in this world, you choose to attack an ugly frog sculpture? Not hunger, war, sweatshops even? It's not even a sexy. Crucified frog. At least slap a bikini on the thing! Maybe put a sex toy in its hand instead of an egg? We can do better than this! September 6, 2008 at 1:28 AM. Strange that he even took notice of it. September 21, 2008 at 9:52 PM.

Wednesday, April 30, 2008. SEXUALITY IS THE DEVIL. Http:/ www.aclu-or.org/site/PageServer? Sorry if the link is broken, but every time I try to add it legitimately, it goes to the bottom of the page and then disappears.  CREEPY.  But not as creepy as the new censorship laws in Oregon! Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Let's just ignore the fact that I completely fail at life (aka this blog) and instead concentrate on this: . Elana's Theatrical Ramblings: Theatre to the People

http://queenofturnips.blogspot.com/2009/01/theatre-to-people.html

Saturday, January 10, 2009. Theatre to the People. I've been thinking a lot about theatre and communal spaces lately. The most impressive play I've ever been involved with (I was an audience member, but to say all I did was "see" the play doesn't begin to encompass the experience) was We Players' production of Macbeth. Which took place at the breathtaking Fort Point. I think that rather than waiting for audiences to go out of their way to come to a defined theatrical space, it would be interesting to bri...

Elana's Theatrical Ramblings: October 2007

http://queenofturnips.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 22, 2007. Almost every theatre professional that I have encountered has given me some variation of the following wisdom: "So you want to be a theatre artist, eh? Sure you don't want to go into law, or real estate, or dog grooming? Well, aside from keeping stock of current events and networking, the biggest advice I'll give you is to see plays, and lots of 'em.". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
