South Sister via Prouty Glacier. July 14, 2011. July 9th was sunny, finally, summer in Bend, Oregon. Couldn’t ask for a better day to go play in the snow just west of town! Eugen and I decided to head up to the top of South Sister on a less common route, going up the Green Lakes trail and then around to the north face of South Sister to the summit via the Prouty Glacier. I’m a lanky Minnesotan named Ed Sea. Louise and I moved to Oregon from Minnesota in 1985. Since Minnesota is landlocked, with the exception of the North Shore. Oregon’s pacific coast was new and exciting. We probably did the 1 and 1/2 hour drive west to the coast from the Willamette Valley once a month. The cascade volcanoes have untold numbers of viewpoints from cliffs and high ledges. I like to get the maximum panoramic views from the cliff edges. Be Sociable, Share!
