Rob's Endurance World: A New Pair of Shoes

http://robsimazquest.blogspot.com/2009/01/new-pair-of-shoes.html

My journey on the way to competing in Ironman races. Tuesday, January 13, 2009. A New Pair of Shoes. So you remember during our hike in the the Pisgah. National Forest Lisa took a little spill on a slippery rock and got a nice stinger. Being that I'm kind of a bargain-priced gear geek I relished the opportunity to research and order her some hiking boots. We ended up choosing a pair of Asolo. Were on the 2008 Backpacker Magazine's Gear Guide as best fit for women or something like that.

Rob's Endurance World: 50K++

http://robsimazquest.blogspot.com/2009/02/50k.html

My journey on the way to competing in Ironman races. Tuesday, February 17, 2009. I had been doing some tempo runs in the last couple of weeks leading up to the race. My Tuesday night running group probably thought I was acting a fool or something, but I put in some good hard efforts for those last Tuesday night group runs. So at the start of the race I made the classic mistake and took off too hard. The course started out on roads. The last 10k of the race was me just trying to bring it in without walkin...

Rob's Endurance World: Those Ultras are Hard

http://robsimazquest.blogspot.com/2009/01/those-ultras-are-hard.html

My journey on the way to competing in Ironman races. Sunday, January 04, 2009. Those Ultras are Hard. I ran the Carrboro. 50K yesterday and I've got a whole new level of respect and awe for ultra runners. That was one tough run. The Carrboro. 50K is held in the spirit of Fat Ass events so there wasn't a registration, no bib number, and the aid station stuff was donations. Also the folks were super friendly. I finally finished. There were 7 runners that did the whole enchilada. And I came in next to last&...

Rob's Endurance World: Inauguration, Snow, and Tapering

http://robsimazquest.blogspot.com/2009/01/inauguration-snow-and-tapering.html

My journey on the way to competing in Ironman races. Friday, January 23, 2009. Inauguration, Snow, and Tapering. I made the trip up to DC to be a part of President Barack Obama's inauguration. It felt really good to be a part of the throngs of folks celebrating our new president. Even though it was cold and we were on our feet a long time, it felt like everybody was happy to be on the National Mall. I felt like I was a tiny part of history being there. 1 – 200 of 321   Newer›. 160; Newest». I've been out...

kk's tri blog: July 2008

http://kktriblog.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 27, 2008. 1 ride, two crashes. Both were my own dumb ass fault too! Saturday was a planned 125 miler. Rode 30 miles at 6:30 am and then met up with the local roadie group ride at 8 for some company. They were planning a century but only 2 guys showed up for the ride instead of the usual 4-5. Crash #1, mile 80. Crash #2, mile 110. In better news, the 'stat's' for this week's big base week were:. Tuesday swam 3,300, bike 38.5 miles of hills in 1:58. Wednesday ran 17 miles in 2:17 (8:03 pace).

http://kktriblog.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 31, 2009. Where did July go? So July is here and gone.wow that was fast. The end of June flew by with all the work the last 2 weeks putting on the Damtri. Overall it was a great success. A few bugs to work out but not too bad for a first time event. After settling down from the Damtri it was time to get ready for the bike leg of the quad games. Sunday after the Quad TT was the Milton Man Olympic tri. In Lake Milton, Ohio. Up at 4 am and off to the races, again. After Milton man it was just s...

kk's tri blog: Tour de Tamarack Bike Race

http://kktriblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/tour-de-tamarack-bike-race.html

Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Tour de Tamarack Bike Race. I had planned to do this race all summer and was going to do the 30 mile race, as most of the top road racers from the area, Ohio and New York come to hammer each other in the 40 mile version. Coach John, however, told me to do the 40 mile race and use it as training. Final results 40 miles in 1:47:11, 22.39 mph avg, 18th overall, 6th Male 30-39. For a first road race in 3 years and on a strictly triathlon only training plan I was more than happy ...

Sunday, December 28, 2008. With a nice 20 mile run today in 2:26 I hit 250 miles on the nose for the month. Mileage this week was 75 and it felt great. A little tired but no joint issues, soreness etc. One blood blister on a toe is all I have to show for my effort. Friday, December 26, 2008. Two more days to go. Sunday, December 21, 2008. 25 miles to go. Sunday, December 14, 2008. 1/2 way to 200. Week 2 of the 200 mile in December challenge is done. Another good week:. Thursday easy run outside. 6&#4...

http://kktriblog.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 13, 2008. MS 150 Escape to the Lake. Two years ago I did this just to get back into some semblance of decent physical shape. A buddy of mine and I did it and even with stopping at every aid station (about every 10 miles) Saturday's ride of 80 miles was brutal and Sunday's wasn't this much better. Now, two years later it felt EASY. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). MS 150 Escape to the Lake. View my complete profile. Other JH Athlete Blogs. 2009 Race Schedule and Results. JHOrg, My tri coach.

Sunday, August 24, 2008. Better now then on race day. The assignment from my coach. This was the 4th or 5th flat this year. Different wheels, different tires, some in training, 2 in races. I went all of 2007 with no flats. Pulled over and the group stopped with me. Tire off, tube out, checked tire for glass or punctures, didn't find anything, new tube in, tire on and. kk's tri blog: Presque Isle Sprint Race Report

http://kktriblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/presque-isle-sprint-race-report.html

Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Presque Isle Sprint Race Report. Saturday, August 29th was the Presque Isle Sprin. T tri in Erie PA. This was a race I did my first year in the sport in 2006 but due to conflicting with Ironman Wisconsin I had to skip the last 2 years so despite only being 6 days after the Cannonman Half I still wanted to do this race and do well. In fact I had e-mailed coach John. Swim 35 miles: 10:13 (1:39/100, 9th Overall, 7th Male, 2nd Age Group). The only good thing to come out of the d...

Monday, September 22, 2008. This weekend was the Savageman. International and Half distance triathlon in Deep Creek, MD. I decided to do this race after feeling OK a few days after IMWI and only because my friend Dave has a condo 2 miles from the race start so I had a free ride and room and board if I wanted it. Since it was so close to IMWI I opted to just go do the shorter Olympic (International) event for the fun of it. Swim 1,500 m: 24:41 (7th fastest male ind). Felt like a long swim, just tried to t...
