Almost half-way there (point framing) | Rob's Long Day

https://robslongday.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/almost-half-way-there-point-framing

Rob's Long Day. Watching grass grow 360 miles north of the Arctic Circle. July 22, 2010. Almost half-way there (point framing). Today Jenny and I busted out 13 point frames in a little less than 6.5hrs…not bad fer a man (and woman). That leaves us at 42 plots down and 58 more to go over this next week and a half. Today while Jenny and I were working we took several opportunities to look around the tundra. I even indulged myself in a 5min tundra nap! I think that’s about it for now. I need sleep!

A-typical day in Barrow | Rob's Long Day

Rob's Long Day. Watching grass grow 360 miles north of the Arctic Circle. July 26, 2010. A-typical day in Barrow. It’s hard to believe the season is already more than half-way over but we are burning through the days pretty quickly. Sometime soon I will have to return to the real world where the roads are paved, the people are bathed, and the minute hand counts. Until then it’s fun in the sun 24-7. Laquo; Almost half-way there (point framing). The close of Point Framing season. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

The close of Point Framing season | Rob's Long Day

https://robslongday.wordpress.com/2010/08/02/the-close-of-point-framing-season

Rob's Long Day. Watching grass grow 360 miles north of the Arctic Circle. August 2, 2010. The close of Point Framing season. While eating lunch, Kelsey and I heard an announcement over the radio that there was a polar bear in the area and that Scotty wanted to post bear-guards around researchers in the field. There must have been some miscommunication because ours didn’t show. Luckily for Me and Kelsey, bears hate plant community studies and thus stayed out of sight. Laquo; A-typical day in Barrow. https://robslongday.wordpress.com/2010/07/17/a-typical-day-in-barrow

Rob's Long Day. Watching grass grow 360 miles north of the Arctic Circle. July 17, 2010. A typical day in Barrow. Today Jenny and I will set out to see how many we can get done before 5 o’clock. At that time we head to the airport to fetch our friends from down under (Jeremy and Kelsey). I’m looking forward to fine dining at Osaka’s sushi restaurant tonight. Should make point framing all the sweeter. Laquo; The first growth measures. Almost half-way there (point framing). On July 17, 2010.

Look At Me Still Talking When There's Science To Do. If I keep thinking of words, I will keep writing them down. July 27, 2010 at 4:34 am · Filed under alaska. All I can think about during the last part of the walk out of the field is doing a triple jump and flying like Mario to the truck. I totally do it all the time (in dreams) but without a wing cap, because I don’t wear hats. What a laugh I just had when I read my last post from a couple weeks ago! Baby Stella seems to be a champion, too. I have ...

Cabin Fever | A Shared Illusion

https://sharedillusion.wordpress.com/2008/08/05/cabin-fever

Just another WordPress.com weblog. August 5, 2008 at 7:04 am · Filed under Saturday Night At The Top Of The World. The next day was more biomass collection followed by a less than bountiful fossil hunt. Sunday was a long field day (cool and rainy) and nothing much that night. Everyone seemed very ready to go back to Barrow. No comments yet ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. Is it supposed to snow in July? | A Shared Illusion

https://sharedillusion.wordpress.com/2008/07/23/is-it-supposed-to-snow-in-july

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Is it supposed to snow in July? July 23, 2008 at 3:45 am · Filed under Uncategorized. The past six days have been quite the whirlwind blur. The days are blended seemlessly together, punctuated only by brief, half-hearted naps. Where to start? I guess at the beginning. This past weekend the whole crew were going to Atqasuk and as you can imagine I was pretty excited about it. Whats not to be excited about? Oh wait the snow from the title! 8221; Ahhh, July in Barrow.

Just another WordPress.com weblog. July 11, 2008 at 8:06 am · Filed under Saturday Night At The Top Of The World. Lately things have been going just a little crazy in the big town of Barrow. Some in a good way, some in a surprising way, but always interesting. Things always have a way to happen that way up here. Thats why I say you have to be ready to improvise, improvise, improvise. Needless to say that I survived the ordeal and was ready for biomassing today. Improvisation (Waiting on another plane).

Just another WordPress.com weblog. One poop in the lichen bag won’t make a difference. July 13, 2008 at 8:21 am · Filed under Saturday Night At The Top Of The World. The night did end on an up note. As a treat for all of us, we watched the movie “Hot Fuzz”. It was pretty funny and I am a growing fan of the leader actors, even though I have no idea what their names are. They are the guys from “Shaun of the Dead” (a must see). I am sure its nice. But then a again so is the North Slope in the summer.

https://asharedillusion2.wordpress.com/2010/07/07/let-me-tell-you-a-thing-or-two-about-bugs

Just another WordPress.com site. Let ME tell YOU a thing or two about bugs! July 7, 2010 at 12:22 am · Filed under Uncategorized. I have spent considerable time in this village of Atqasuk, but today was unlike any other day that I have seen. In the Midwest a walk in the park, a picnic, or a day fishing often has the annoyance of a dozen or so little mosquitoes following you around. Spray on a light layer of Deet and you are good to go. Oh things we do for science. So next time I am sitting on the pad...
