Rookie Homeowner

This blog is dedicated to the process of fixing up my first home. Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Chalkboards as countertops: sustainability. Thanks to sara for my very first blog comment! Sara asked if the chalkboards and the finish I chose have held up over time. The finish lasted about 3 months. the guy at Home Depot recommended the $40 bottle, and whille I was reluctant to pay, I certainly didn't want to ruin my counters. That $40 would have been better spent on beer! You ready for the new finish? In my quest...

Rookie Homeowner: Incarcerated

http://rookiehomeowner.blogspot.com/2005/11/incarcerated.html

This blog is dedicated to the process of fixing up my first home. Wednesday, November 23, 2005. Originally uploaded by Michael Browne. I must say that the ceiling incident was much less amusing than the bucket incident. But now, this bucket must be destroyed. It's not the bucket's fault. I simply didn't think to remove it before I installed the countertop. And now, with no way to remove the bucket from within the cabinetry, I must cut it in half. Let the beheading begin! This blog is dedicated to the process of fixing up my first home. Sunday, September 18, 2005. Like a Jeweler's Case. Originally uploaded by Michael Browne. I have to say, this stuff looks good. All I need are some felt-lined boxes to go with this highly coveted polished natural stone. Posted by Michael Browne @ 9:45 PM. Originally uploaded by Michael Browne. This blog is dedicated to the process of fixing up my first home. Saturday, September 16, 2006. Originally uploaded by Michael Browne. Has it really been 8 months since the last post? Surely I've worked on the place in that time. Recess is over. Time to get on it. Balance those priorities, keep things moving. Nope Dehumidifier in effect while I type this update. Pretty soon, I'll have a finished floor for my workout sessions. Posted by Michael Browne @ 7:04 PM. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.

This blog is dedicated to the process of fixing up my first home. Wednesday, July 27, 2005. The Road to the Plastic Chairs. Originally uploaded by Michael Browne. Using some left over "pennsylvania rock" from another job, the team from Kinney landscaping made this nice little walkway that leads to the plastic chairs. I plan to get a little chiminea for the official "Browne's Backyard Halfway Soiree" this weekend. Posted by Michael Browne @ 7:53 AM. Originally uploaded by Michael Browne. Originally upload...

This blog is dedicated to the process of fixing up my first home. Saturday, January 15, 2005. Originally uploaded by Michael Browne. Not a whole lot of progress this week. It's deadline at the magazine. So I haven't spent as much time here as I'd hoped. Nonetheless, I've moved into the partially finished bedroom. The only things left to do here are install the quarter round, install the refinished closet doors and figure out some window covering for the small windows. Posted by Michael Browne @ 1:53 AM.

Rookie Homeschooling Mama

Tuesday, 18 March 2014. Club Day. The Nature Version. Today's Club meeting could have gone with the tagline, "Just Play With Your Food." Which is exactly what we did today. But it was all with a purpose. You see, we were experimenting with different bird beak designs and discovering that certain beaks are engineered specifically for the preferred food of its owner. As the club went about finishing their snack using their tool of choice, I read the book. Monday, 17 March 2014. So a couple of hours were sp...
