Saturday, August 15, 2015. During the last two week for mathematics we have been busy learning how to tell the time on a digital and an analogue clock. To help us with our learning we have been drawing clock faces outside on the concrete and using them to help us practice counting the minutes around the clock. Thursday, June 25, 2015. As part of our learning about Matariki we learnt about the seven stars of Matariki and the significance of each of the stars. We worked in groups to write about why each star is important and to draw appropriate illustrations on each star. We then put these all together to create our "Seven Stars of Matariki" mural. Thursday, July 30, 2015. This week as part of our Maori Language Week work we have been reading lots of stories about the well known Maori legend character Maui. We enjoyed hearing about his adventures and how he was a bit of a trickster. One of our tasks was to draw a picture showing Maui on one of his journeys. Thursday, July 23, 2015. Thursday, April 23, 2015. For Mathematics this week in room 12 the children have been working together in groups to write, show the groupings and to solve multiplication equations. Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Room 12 children used Koru patterns to depict members of their Whanau. The Koru shapes were painted and Maori patterns were added to them using pastels.
