Sticky Brain: November 2010
http://stickybrain.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Been a while since I blogged, figured it was time for an update! How are things going then. Well, very well actually! I can say now that aside from a few fixes, touch ups and the final encounter being finished, all that's left is voice-overs. Timelord got the first chunk of the final encounter sent over to me the other day and I've been busy working out how to give the followers a level up template (not going so well, I'll be honest! All in all, the finish line is firmly.

Sticky Brain: Petition: Add an 8th day to the week.
http://stickybrain.blogspot.com/2011/11/petition-add-8th-day-to-week.html
Sunday, November 27, 2011. Petition: Add an 8th day to the week. How are we doing? Where the hell has the time gone. Can you believe it's almost Christmas? Last but not least, I'm also working as a level designer for bitSmith Games, which I'm incredibly excited about. Our first title for the iPad (and eventually PC) is known as 'Ku', an action RPG based on ancient Irish mythology, with a beautifully hand painted Celtic/Steampunk aesthetic. Make sure you check out www.bitsmithgames.com/.

Sticky Brain: May 2011
http://stickybrain.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 2, 2011. I'm a terrible blogger. Setting aside 30 minutes a week doesn't seem like a monumental task, but lately that's proven quite the contrary. High right now, this is exactly where I want to be and what I want to be doing. It's a beautiful evening, summer is here, L.A Noire is out in just over 2 weeks and Osama Bin Laden is dead. Life is good. Have a nice evening! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). New Project - With Special Guest Artist! Game of Thrones: Closure at last. View my complete profile.

Sticky Brain: February 2011
http://stickybrain.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Virus' and Dragon Age 2! Apologies for the late blog, but I've been bed-bound since Monday morning with a nasty virus, which thankfully has subsided. God is it good to feel better. Speaking of virus', it is the focal point for my current project. Onto Dragon Age 2 then. Combat system, that feels like a blend between a combo driven action game and the ability based mechanics of an MMO. I won't talk about the dialogue, story and moral choices, because I simply skipped through ...

Sticky Brain: April 2011
http://stickybrain.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 7, 2011. Onto Unity then. It's great. Everything is almost TOO streamlined and coming from an in-house oriented toolset to this user-friendly, thoroughly thought out set of tools is almost too good to be true. It really is fantastic. I've come across countless little quirks that have literally put a beaming smile on my face. It's all about the detail people! I expect big things from Unity over the coming years. I've only just scratched the surface of it so far, but so far, so impressed.

A Timelord's Travel: November 2010
http://timelorddc.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Written by Timelord on November 28, 2010. It's been some time since the last update - I've been completely swamped with RL work and had to put Dragon Age stuff on hold. Hey, need that money to finance these hobbies! Still a WIP but this should give a sense of scale (the height is 288 vs 256, btw). One advantage of having a level as a basis for this new one is the ability to export and import selection groups. Since I had been fairly meticulous in organizing my structures (save for the last minute add...

A Timelord's Travel: August 2010
http://timelorddc.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Props, Textures and Lighting. Written by Timelord on August 30, 2010. This past weekend was spent mainly in adding props to the existing levels to flesh them out and playing around with the textures. Below are a couple of screenshots before and after the texture and prop/vegetation work done this weekend (you can open the images in a new window to see the full-sized image). Start area - Before. Start area - After. All in all, a good weekend's worth of work given that I was tied up with RL (Woodbury Days ...

A Timelord's Travel: Release!
http://timelorddc.blogspot.com/2011/01/release.html
Written by Timelord on January 14, 2011. Well, almost there. I'm talking about Craggy Island, of course. The past week was a bit unsettling because of all the various ways the game decided to test our conviction that the module was ready for release. B2B area loads didn't work, quests working in one build didn't work on another, plot actions that had been working for a long time were suddenly breaking - it was like a pre-go-live crunch period, which in a way, it was, I guess. Sticky Brain: September 2011
http://stickybrain.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 22, 2011. Well didn't the summer just disappear? And to think that the Christmas decorations will be on full display everywhere in a matter of weeks. scary! I've had a rather turbulent month with a screwed back (worse than first suspected, but better now) a bout of flu, increased pressure in work and last but not least, girl troubles. A Timelord's Travel: Loot System
http://timelorddc.blogspot.com/2011/02/loot-system.html
Written by Timelord on February 10, 2011. In the last post, I covered why I thought the loot system in the vanilla game was not really a good option (in my eyes! For BaL. This has been at the back of my mind for a long time, ever since I started working on this mod. So, what can be done to make loot interesting? I know Awakening has Rune-crafting as a skill but again, in my opinion, I felt it was not enough. Old-time readers of this blog might remember me mentioning Phaenan's Crafting GUI Framework.
