Round the World 2008/09. Monday, 8 June 2009. Days 279 to 288:. We arrived in India at Varanasi and a scorching 45 degrees heat. We were reliably informed that May wasn't the height of the tourist season, which was good from the point of view of smaller crowds, but did mean we had to be up at the crack of dawn in order to see the sights without melting away.
