artycraftythings: Paintings inspired by Van Gogh
http://artycraftythings.blogspot.com/2012/05/paintings-inspired-by-van-gogh.html
Sunday, 13 May 2012. Paintings inspired by Van Gogh. I have always loved the loose swirly style of Van Gogh's paintings. The way he uses paint is inspirational. The brushstrokes go in all directions around the canvas. I also love the bright colours, which are I like to use in my own paintings. The next one takes Van Goghs swirly paint style to extremes. This is a painting of an iris flower. At first I just did the swirls in the background, like the previous painting, but then I decided to blur th...It is...

artycraftythings: Wedding day butterfly confetti, wishing tree and place name tags
http://artycraftythings.blogspot.com/2013/01/wedding-day-butterfly-confetti-wishing.html
Sunday, 20 January 2013. Wedding day butterfly confetti, wishing tree and place name tags. I have sold lots and lots of butterflies in my eBay store! Some are used for card making, but most go as wedding confetti. The most favourite colour, by a long way, has been purple. That is "favorite color" for those reading this in the USA! I have decided to increase the range and variety of items available for this years weddings! I will focus initially on purple and lilac, as it is the best seller. I have also m...

artycraftythings: Yarn bombing on trees
http://artycraftythings.blogspot.com/2014/12/yarn-bombing-on-trees.html
Tuesday, 9 December 2014. Yarn bombing on trees. I have recently started a painting inspired by yarn bombing on trees! It is not finished yet, so I won't publish all the details about it now.but I will when it is completed. I find this kind of public art fascinating. It is often done by groups of people working together. It brightens up a dull corner of a town or city.and is always a talking point! You just can't ignore it, or be cheered up by it. Tuesday, December 09, 2014. FOR SALE. My paintings as...

artycraftythings: Animal sculpture from metal and scrap materials
http://artycraftythings.blogspot.com/2012/07/animal-sculpture-from-metal-and-scrap.html
Saturday, 21 July 2012. Animal sculpture from metal and scrap materials. I visited Art in Action ( 2 days ago ) and saw some really interesting sculptures made from scrap materials. They are life-size creatures made from all sorts of metal scrap. This horse is made from cut up beer cans as you can see from the close up below. I like the feature of the car headlights on this one, and the transparency of the whole creature against the sunshine. Saturday, July 21, 2012. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://artycraftythings.blogspot.com/2012/04/floral-painting-hellebores.html
Saturday, 28 April 2012. Floral painting. Hellebores. I have just completed another of my detailed floral paintings. This is based on some beautiful Hellebores I saw when I went to RHS Wisley last month. Here are 2 photos of the flowers that inspired me. I love these due to their unusual colours. Not many flowers have green in them. I shall show you a few stages of the painting. The first photo is where I have blocked in all the colours before adding any detail. A s usual your comments are appreciated.

artycraftythings: Painting irises, step by step
http://artycraftythings.blogspot.com/2012/08/painting-irises-step-by-step.html
Wednesday, 15 August 2012. Painting irises, step by step. I have just completed a new painting of purple irises. It has lots of detail and has taken me quite awhile to paint it. I photographed the whole procedure, for this blog, and for my own interest as to how a painting changes. I will show you how I did it. The first step putting some background colours on the canvas. I used acrylic paint here. I changed my mind straight away about the background colours, as you can see! The painting is now getting a...

artycraftythings: Windsor Contemporary Art Fair
http://artycraftythings.blogspot.com/2014/11/windsor-contemporary-art-fair.html
Saturday, 8 November 2014. Windsor Contemporary Art Fair. I spent a few hours today visiting the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair. This is a fairly large and well attended event at Windsor, in the events hall at the race course. I cannot show all the talented artists here, but this is a selection of the work that attracted me the most. Where I can, I have put the artists name. Also showing was Anna Perlin with her strong bold landscapes, below. I was impressed with the very individual and stylized paintings...

artycraftythings: Painting of tulips. Step by step.
http://artycraftythings.blogspot.com/2013/06/painting-of-tulips-step-by-step.html
Tuesday, 11 June 2013. Painting of tulips. Step by step. My last post showed some photos of tulips I took in my back garden. I decided to do a painting based on some of the photos as I was inspired by the shapes and the vibrant colours. Here is how I created the painting. You may want to look at the photos on my last post as well here! Initially I drew out some outlines. trying to get a good balance of shapes to fill a square canvas. Next I worked a bit. I then started to play about with the background s...
