The Stone Age Techie: Irony of the Day
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2011/11/irony-of-day.html
Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Irony of the Day. Our best health care plan option next year is the one that makes six out of the seven doctors we see, including our primary care doctors and some that we've seen for more than a decade, absolutely unaffordable (meaning that we're scrambling for all new doctors). The name of this plan is the Tufts Your Choice Plan. Tryin' to get healthy, it continues to be a long road, so I thought it was time to check in for a mini-rant. I hope you can say the same, or better!

The Stone Age Techie: Unconventional Gingerbread Houses
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2011/12/unconventional-gingerbread-houses.html
Thursday, December 22, 2011. I know, a positive post from The Stone Age Techie! One that is not about health problems, or health insurance, or other sucky stuff like that. I feel lots better, largely because I started acupuncture about six weeks ago. (Think it's too expensive? So did I, until I found out about Community Acupuncture. It is a frickin' miracle, and between that and physical therapy I hope I am on the road to recovery. I'm very lucky in my virtual friends as well as my real-world ones. Inste...

The Stone Age Techie: Eye of the Tiger
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2014/05/eye-of-tiger_15.html
Thursday, May 15, 2014. Eye of the Tiger. The problem with tendons is, they aren't just in your legs. These past few years have been a long series of whanging my head on a proverbial garden rake that I had left carelessly lying around, saying to myself “jeez, I better move that rake,” and then whanging my head again. And again. And…. So, what's a girl to do when she can't use her hands for writing, typing, cooking, cleaning, card-playing, making music, knitting, or anything really, beyond holding a fork?

The Stone Age Techie: Don't Panic!
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2011/06/dont-panic.html
Thursday, June 16, 2011. Gosh, I didn't realize how long ago May 10 – the date of my last blog post – was. In my defense, I can only say that it's been a pretty busy few weeks, and culminated in my getting sick, like hospital sick. (Not wisdom teeth. I'd been really worrying about flying. I couldn't sleep for worrying, couldn't keep my mind on a book, didn't enjoy stuff I usually enjoy like playing Legos with the kids or knitting. At the time, I thought the only thing I was going to have to worry about w...

The Stone Age Techie: Spring Changes
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2012/03/spring-changes.html
Thursday, March 15, 2012. What a difference a month makes! A month ago, I wasn't walking; now, for very limited periods, I can. Also, the only thing my leg needs now is strength, so different from a month ago when every movement hurt. Big, big change! In February, Owen had a lot more teeth than he does now:. As he's gotten more vampire-y looking, he's also developed a thirst (d'oh! Cringe) for tales of that mysterious rabbit, Bunnicula. In February, we had no new seedlings. And now:. Peace and Laughter,.

The Stone Age Techie: Interview with Jacqueline Davies, Author of The Lemonade War Series!
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2014/10/interview-with-jacqueline-davies-author_19.html
Sunday, October 19, 2014. Interview with Jacqueline Davies, Author of The Lemonade War Series! The boys and I have been huge fans of The Lemonade War series for years now, and I was so excited when Jacqueline Davies said yes and generously donated her time to answer questions here at The Stone Age Techie. Several of these questions pertain to The Sincerity Project. My questions are in black, and her answers are in red. And now, without further ado, our interview! On that spectrum. There are a lot of ...

The Stone Age Techie: A Letter in The Boston Globe!
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2011/11/letter-in-boston-globe.html
Thursday, November 17, 2011. A Letter in The Boston Globe! My letter to the editor about the effect that health care coverage is having on my family. I know that this blog is about homeschooling (well, and knitting) but for the last six months our lives have been as much about health, sickness, and insurance as anything else. And this is really a blog about our life, so this is what I'm blogging about. In case the links stops working after today, here is the text from the letter:. November 17, 2011.

The Stone Age Techie: The Sincerity Project
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2014/06/the-sincerity-project.html
Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Recently, I have been thinking about my roots as a teacher of early childhood education. As the boys grow into the teen and tween stages, we are leaving early childhood behind in our family, and I've been thinking about what a truly special time early childhood is in life. It really is a mistake – a child who gets the message that his or her ideas do not have merit will stop sharing those ideas, and may even stop having them. June 23, 2014 at 1:04 PM. The Stone Age Techie: Non-Linear Learning
http://stoneagetechie.blogspot.com/2014/09/non-linear-learning.html
Monday, September 15, 2014. You never know where something you're interested in is going to take you. This has come up a lot around here lately, as the boys get older and put more and more of their own ideas into what they do all day. It's made me remember, from what seems like a long time ago, when I could say to them "hey, that class about rocket science/archaeology/drawing sounds interesting, want to try it? And confidently expect an unequivocal – enthusiastic – "yes! No, he is far more interested in ...
