ruminations on retellings

Saturday, May 1, 2010. Not totally sure what this final blog is supposed to deal with, so I'll ramble for a bit. I thought the blog was a fun way to engage the class but I feel like there needs to be some other kind of motivator that goes along with it, like monthly blog checks or something, just to make sure everyone stays on top of it. I know I got complacent about blogging and my blog suffered because of it. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. The tragic sense of life. Saturday, April 24, 2010. I don't believe...

ruminations on retellings: Presentations and reality

http://www.ruminationsonretellings.blogspot.com/2010/04/presentations-and-reality.html

Saturday, April 24, 2010. I don't believe there is a black and white answer to this question, there is truth to both sides. You can achieve a greater understanding, a richer experience by reading about something rather than being there but there is something that reading and the imagination cannot recreate and that is true physical experience. ruminations on retellings: Solipsism

http://www.ruminationsonretellings.blogspot.com/2010/04/solipsism.html

Saturday, April 3, 2010. Solipsism was mentioned in class and it really grabbed me. As some of my previous blogs discuss I'm very interested in the definition of reality. Basically asking the question: What is really real and how do we know it's real? How do we know that we're not just a character in somebody's story, complete with an omnipotent narrator to guide others through our story? Even if we could somehow “observe” reality how do we even know we can trust our own senses? The Real Last Blog. Monda...

ruminations on retellings: The death mother

http://www.ruminationsonretellings.blogspot.com/2010/04/death-mother.html

Saturday, April 10, 2010. One archetype i couldn't place within the star wars universe was that of the death mother. The name did however immediately draw me to the Animal Mother character from Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket. I began to wonder if the gender archetypes could cross gender lines. The idea that gender specific archetypes seem to cross the gender gap is very interesting to me and is something that I will look for in literature from now on. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

ruminations on retellings: final paper

http://www.ruminationsonretellings.blogspot.com/2010/04/final-paper.html

Wednesday, April 28, 2010. The tragic sense of life. Living with a future put in such bleak terms one wonders what the point is. Why go on existing when to exist is to suffer? We suffer in hate and love, in prosperity or ruin, in good health or bad so why not just take our chances on an afterlife and escape it all? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hello Interweb.I've decided to turn my old lit class blog into a Keeping Up With Kendra blog. The final blog again to put my blogs to rest.

The odor of corruption. 2 Who is Smerdyakov's mother? 3 What are two of the great lessons of Father Zossima? Everyone is responsible for everyone else. Paradise is everywhere (not geography, but mental). 4 Who actually murdered Old Man Karamazov? 5 How did Smerdyakov die? 6 What are the court scenes depicting? Scapegoating can also be a way to shift responsibility onto someone else. After a bit of googling, scapegoating is a psychological defense mechanism for those in denial of blame or responsibility.

Karinne Noah "scribbling and bibbling" about Lit 110. Wednesday, April 14, 2010. I haven't quite formulated a thesis quite yet. However, an idea I seem to keep coming back to involves a comparison between the two 'fathers' in the novel: Fydor and Father Zossima. The two characters extremely differ in their moral values and both their deaths cause a bit of crisis for the Karamazov brothers. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). How to Sexson Blog. Rita's Ruminations, Revelations, and Ramblings. I'm a 40-something mom, Mormon, Feminist, and all around do-good-er. I'm outspoken about the devastation an addiction to pornography and sex can do to a marriage. I'm coping with divorce, PTSD from surviving sexual assault and domestic violence, and trying to keep my head above water while being a single parent, student, and raising a couple of kids on the autism spectrum. How do I keep it all together? As Dory says: Just keep swimming. I'm so, SO tired.

Post the Seventy-fourth (in which our heroine despairs for the future of manners). Upbringing is clearly a large factor in how unmannerly or otherwise a person is.
