Run Like A Coyote

Monday, June 8, 2015. Fontana Days 5K Recap. On Saturday I ran the Fontana Days 5K. My old PR was 24:59 and I was hoping to beat that on Saturday. The plan was to run about an 8 min mile and pour it on at the end. I thought I could do it. My coach thought I could do it. But would I? There was one slight hitch! Anyway, I had a total blast! On Friday, I got up and ran my last workout (easy 5 miler) before the race. I was tired but it was totally worth all the fun! The mayor took us through a warm up routin...

Run Like A Coyote: December 2014

http://runlikeacoyote.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 16, 2014. 30th Half Marathon Race Recap! On Sunday, I ran my 30th Half Marathon! I was looking for somewhere to celebrate the 30 milestone and I decided on the Dallas MetroPCS Half Marathon. I had a LOT of Texas friends and I had never been to Texas (well, except for the airports in Dallas and Houston). It would be the perfect place to celebrate. After the doors closed and we were moving I asked him if I was on the right train! Then, I continued on my run to do a little more exploring.

Run Like A Coyote: Who Me?

http://runlikeacoyote.blogspot.com/p/who-me.html

My name is Lisa and I'm 47 years old and I'm a runner, cyclist, and Disneyholic. I wasn't always a runner though. On my 40th birthday, I weighed 300 pounds. I don't know how much exactly because I was afraid to get on the scale! This is from the Maui trip. I’m the one on the right. I think I was 280 at this point. I lost weight steadily until I got down to 220 and then hit a plateau and that’s when my life changed! 95 races and counting including 35 half marathons, 15 marathons, and 8 ultras). Sometimes,...

Run Like A Coyote: Cummins Falls Half Marathon Recap

http://runlikeacoyote.blogspot.com/2015/02/cummins-falls-half-marathon-recap.html

Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Cummins Falls Half Marathon Recap. On Saturday, I ran the Cummins Falls Half Marathon in Cookeville, Tennessee. It was my 33rd Half Marathon and one of the most beautiful… and cold races I’ve done! I’m really glad I did it because it was one of the craziest, most fun adventures I’ve had. And I feel pretty proud of myself for running it too. It was 26 degrees. And snowing. Snowing! Photo by Cummins Falls Marathon. And I thought, oh crap, I’m going to fall in! The bridge was was...

@Marathoner: Knickerbocker 60K - 9:51

http://marathonomy.blogspot.com/2008/11/knickerbocker-60k-951.html

Saturday, November 15, 2008. Knickerbocker 60K - 9:51. The unexamined life is not worth living." - Socrates. I like to move it, move it" - Madagascar 2. We began with a simple out-and-back run, from Runner's Gate to 102nd Street and straight back, good for 1.38 miles. Then once we got back to Runner's Gate, we kept on going in a clockwise direction, and I didn't stop until 5:52 pm The nine loops followed the interior four-mile loop of Central Park, exactly 3.98 miles around. You are waterlogged. OK, ...

Thought Per Mile: March 2014

http://thoughtpermile.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

A collection of thoughts, mind games, and observations made while running, thinking about running, or doing any alternatives to running. Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Pre-run rituals and superstitions. Like many athletes and spectators, runners have some interesting pre-run habits. Whether it's a tried-and-true nutrition system or just a little bit of superstition, if we find something that works we just want to stick with it! The morning of a long run I will eat something with carbs, like an English muffin&#...

Thought Per Mile: Oh my aching hip!

http://thoughtpermile.blogspot.com/2011/04/oh-my-aching-hip.html

A collection of thoughts, mind games, and observations made while running, thinking about running, or doing any alternatives to running. Friday, April 29, 2011. Oh my aching hip! It’s a Friday night and I’m sitting in the recliner, icing my hip, reflecting on a (nearly) successful week. After starting off the month with record mileage, I’ve been feeling pretty confident and looking forward to my next challenge. But this week I wanted to be back in full force and accumulating a solid 25 miles this week.

A collection of thoughts, mind games, and observations made while running, thinking about running, or doing any alternatives to running. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Happy hip-anniversary to me! Okay I know it's been a hundred years since I've written anything about training or race recaps, and I swear I'll make it up to you. but today I want to focus on something really cool: Me. Three years ago today I went in for my hip surgery. The thing is, it does get better. Sometimes it takes a really long arc ...

http://thoughtpermile.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

A collection of thoughts, mind games, and observations made while running, thinking about running, or doing any alternatives to running. Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Patriot Half Race Report. I had taken Friday off work to pack and head down to my hotel. What I didn't factor on was the torrential downpours. I was getting a little panicked seeing all that rain and it was a nuisance to pack the car and drive in it, but my bigger concern was what impact it would have on race conditions. Everything turned into ...

A collection of thoughts, mind games, and observations made while running, thinking about running, or doing any alternatives to running. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Clearwater Distance Classic Race Report. Digging out of this monstrous blizzard seems like a good time to reflect on my time spent in Florida last weekend! Warning, this is going to be a picture-heavy post. Of pictures of warm, sunny Florida. Brace yourselves! But little did I know I'd go and sprain my ankle right before the trip! Sunday mor...

A collection of thoughts, mind games, and observations made while running, thinking about running, or doing any alternatives to running. Thursday, April 24, 2014. Monday morning, Ronnie and Coleen met at my house and then we headed over to Julia's. Like last year, we all wanted to meet at Julia's before heading over to EMC to catch the shuttle bus. That way we'd all be together heading to the Athlete's Village. Wearing our Wal-Mart special throw-away clothes! We got to EMC at 8:30 and easily found parkin...

Friday, January 10, 2014. A DIFFERENT TAKE ON THE NEW YEAR. Nothing is more traditional as the year draws to a close than to begin working on a list of goals for the coming year – your New Year’s resolutions. They may be personal or professional, but they are usually things you know you ought to do but for some reason have never found the motivation to see through. I’d routinely be coaxed by our friends (as well as other boarders) to take lessons, but my response was consistent: Thanks but no thanks.
