Odds and ends

Monday, August 09, 2010. I'm closing this shop! Hi to all my dear readers. There are some changes due here! I've spent a good part of this year in a small village in Southern Italy with no internet connection at home and all my internet activity has gone down to all-time low levels. I must say though that it has been a very liberating experience! Eventhough now I have a highspeed web connection I no longer want to spend hours a day sitting in front of a blinking screen. So I need to cut back . Last week ...

Odds and ends: Estonian Stockings

http://runningaroundwithscissors.blogspot.com/2007/03/estonian-stockings.html

Saturday, March 24, 2007. I made myself Estonian stockings. The pattern is the optimized version of Nancy Bush's "Folk knitting in Estonia". Material used is an Estonian lambswool (colored yarn is at elast 10-15 years old). I think they are cool. And never mind that one of the stockings seems smaller than the other it's just bad photographing not knitting skills. 1) it's very very resistant. 2) it goes only softer with every wash (only handwash, with natural detersive if possible). 3) it stays in form.

Monday, July 23, 2007. Enough of blabber, I present the (not)finished jacket (I sew the sleeves and buttons on this morning, and silly silly silly me, forgot to take even one shot):. Yarn: GB Wolle Gil (100% wool, 50 gr = 125 m). Needles: 4mm Addi Turbo. Ingrid, how did you do the percentages? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Amatöör maailmajagude vahel kolija. Odds and ends: Between Pauses

http://runningaroundwithscissors.blogspot.com/2007/09/between-pauses.html

Thursday, September 13, 2007. Bloggin vacation for now is over. It is quite shameful that whenever at the seaside in Puglia I have no urge to knit, it isstrange though that each year I take allmy UFOs and pattern and yarn along and never do anythingh, but I am convinced that the year I'll elave my needles and stash behind will be the Most Eventless Summer of all. Therefore I have (ashamed) accomplished only 18 nearnothings as seen on photo. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

http://forecastkal.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 26, 2006. I think I'm going to have to add about 3 pattern repeats! It sounds like a lot but then again I am a tight knitter so my rows may be off. Here are some progress shots. Thursday, November 16, 2006. Now you see it. Frogged. Two night's work, gone while I listen to the breakfast news. It was a good inch too baggy, and after much um-ing and er-ing I decided if it's worth doing, it's worth making it fit. Posted by Alice at 11:43 PM. Links to this post. Monday, May 29, 2006. Holy crap, guys, I'm done! I'm so happy with the way my Forecast turned out. The fit is snug (but I like it that way), the buttons I picked turned out great and the yarn got nice and soft after I washed it. I'll definitely be wearing this once fall comes back around (but not before then - I broke a sweat today just wearing it for the pictures! More pictures at my blog. And my Flickr photostream. Monday, February 27, 2006. Dashing all the way. My mom is going to knit Forecast, too. She ordered 5 skeins of Cascade 220 in sage. I told her to post some pics on here when she knits a bit. She thinks she's going to use Wendy's modifications, too. Stephanie Japel may just have to rewrite her sweater pattern, yesno? I'm hexing you all for being faster than me. :D. Thursday, June 29, 2006. Finally, I've gotten my act together sufficiently to take some photos of my finished Forecast. She's been done for almost 2 months now! Here she is, in her ublocked state:. I am inordinately proud of the buttons we found - quite a good match colour-wise, which is a challenge when you live in a place where handcrafts are a dying art. Since I cant get a nice photo of the front of my Forecast, here's the back. I enjoyed this pattern a lot, but particularly enjoyed the KAL aspect&#46...

Monday, March 22, 2010. I did it. Sort of. Originally my goal was to finish my half marathon in 2:10:00. Mile One:Holy mackerel there were lots of people! Mile Two:Still pretty slow, still pretty crowded, but felt great. Finished mile two around 20:20 or so. Did I mention the sun wasn’t up yet?
