All Things Jaime: New York City Marathon: Race Report
http://atouchofjaime.blogspot.com/2011/11/new-york-city-marathon-race-report.html
8220;You can have anything you want - if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose.". Friday, November 11, 2011. New York City Marathon: Race Report. But, I did it. I planned the trip and was so excited to see Penny! I analyzed past blogs and training cycles and realized that I am SUCH a better runner now in so many ways, but that I just didn't have the distance. So, with 9 days to go, I de...
Genetically Challenged Athlete: The great escape: some easy Hong Kong hikes
http://genechallenged.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-great-escape-some-easy-hong-kong.html
Thursday, January 29, 2015. The great escape: some easy Hong Kong hikes. Day 1 - High Junk Peak. Since December J has been back Stateside to spend Christmas and New Year with his family, and get settled in to his new lab/ grad programme, so I've been flying solo since then while waiting (and waiting, and waiting, and waitingggg) for my spouse visa. (Which, frankly, leaves me in a pickle: how do I clean my ceiling fan and change the kitchen light bulb that's on the fritz? Part of Hong Kong is way. Message...
Genetically Challenged Athlete: What not to wear, pregnancy edition
http://genechallenged.blogspot.com/2015/02/what-not-to-wear-pregnancy-edition.html
Sunday, February 8, 2015. What not to wear, pregnancy edition. Ok, here's a frivolous little post. What do you wear to a friend's very large, rather posh wedding dinner. When you are 6 months pregnant. And have shipped most of your clothing anyway? If a penguin suit and cummerbund can accommodate Pavarotti's belly WHY NOT MINE? So here is a quick guide to my workout wear, pregnancy edition. For running, I wear:. I wish I hadn't tossed out my ratty old old-school nylon running shorts a year or two ago (I'...
Genetically Challenged Athlete: Race report: the Great Eastern Women's 5K
http://genechallenged.blogspot.com/2014/11/race-report-great-eastern-womens-5k.html
Saturday, November 29, 2014. Race report: the Great Eastern Women's 5K. So way back when in a fit of post-marathon enthusiasm, I signed up for the Great Eastern Women's Run half marathon, hoping to train really hard towards a sub-2-hour half (. AND it's really solidly well-organised every year. (How well-organised? At that point, the thought of being on my feet for two and a half hours was sounding less and less appealing, and the thought of handing over my precious, seriously. I know the rules say you d...

Genetically Challenged Athlete: And here we are
http://genechallenged.blogspot.com/2015/04/and-here-we-are.html
Friday, April 3, 2015. And here we are. And here we are at 34 weeks gestation and counting. It's exactly like training for a marathon, except the race organisers might suddenly spring a new start date on you that is either later or earlier than planned, you don't know where the start line might be, there are no medals at the end, and you definitely. Don't get rest days during training. So.ok, not exactly. Like training for a marathon. What else have I been up to? Some highlights that I've enjoyed:. Rober...

Genetically Challenged Athlete: Here we go again - the Stanchart cheating accusation kerfuffle
http://genechallenged.blogspot.com/2014/12/here-we-go-again-stanchart-cheating.html
Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Here we go again - the Stanchart cheating accusation kerfuffle. Remember last year, when some dodo actually cheated. During the flagship Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon and found himself in first place? This year's 'cheating' 'scandal' is a little different. Blogger and race photographer Tekko, who is himself also a runner, posted this. Yes, it's the same dude whom I wrote about in this post. Yesterday he retracted the accusation and apologised in a subsequent post.
Genetically Challenged Athlete: Back in the saddle
http://genechallenged.blogspot.com/2015/07/back-in-saddle.html
Saturday, July 11, 2015. Back in the saddle. Look at that pace. (That translates to a 10:32 mile pace. Not much, but the average in all my previous runs in 2015 has started with an 11.). And then by Jen's request - lookit this face. July 11, 2015 at 11:13 PM. July 12, 2015 at 3:25 AM. July 12, 2015 at 11:09 PM. Thanks for indulging my request. :). Also: great job on getting faster! And for doing the km to mile pace conversion for us U.S. readers.). July 14, 2015 at 1:09 AM. July 16, 2015 at 1:42 AM.
Genetically Challenged Athlete: Race report: the one with the best finisher souvenir ever
http://genechallenged.blogspot.com/2015/05/race-report-one-with-best-finisher.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Race report: the one with the best finisher souvenir ever. A few weeks back, I did say that expecting a baby was like training for a marathon. Meet baby D, 7.5lbs and 19.25 inches at birth - that's 3.4 kg and 49cm for those of us thinking in metric. Champion pooper and thumb-sucker extraordinaire, but he's still getting the whole eating thing figured out. He enjoys sunshine, a good burp, Rockabye Baby music, and being IN CHARGE. So how did the 'race' go? Right now, baby has a littl...

Running Screaming | A Headlong Plunge Through the Madness
June 7, 2015. New friends, who have just found my writing while I was on my now-annual Find Myself trip to reconnect with friends and the world. Stalwart friends, who have read all the Facebook essays I wrote during last year’s trip, which I took to honor the anniversary of Ben’s death. You who read every step of the journey I made to meet eyes and make flesh-to-flesh handshakes with every single online friend who had hauled me through that initial year. The words and I are glad you’re here. The popcorn-...

Running Alone but Together
Running Alone but Together. Mom and Daughter started this journey in 2007 to run a marathon the same day but 7,440 miles apart. From Seattle to Bangkok. The events came and went. Seattle was done but Bangkok, due to Force Majeure, was a no go. Now, mom and daughter continue their journey with new plans, new goals and different paths. They still run through life alone but together. Saturday, May 9, 2015. The weekend after, this week, I hesitated to run Inspiring Hope 10K. Why the hesitation? My races year...

Running Secure
Thursday, 7 July 2011. JUNOS Pulse Gateway - MAG2600. I get to work with most of the Juniper security range and I feel one of the best bits of kit they have is the SSL VPN boxes. Recently Juniper have brought out the JUNOS Pulse Gateway MAG series devices, at first I was unsure whether these were a replacement for the Juniper SA range or not. Additionally it is not easy to find any Juniper documentation that states that they do the same job. That being the case I was able to get a box on eval to play with.
