State of our Union: the ‘I win, you lose’ mentality | Truth Be Told
https://bbcintheokc.wordpress.com/2010/01/28/state-of-our-union-the-i-win-you-lose-mentality
With open eyes and an open heart…. Who Am I Really? Penny for your Thoughts. State of our Union: the ‘I win, you lose’ mentality. 2010 State of the Union Address by President Barack Obama. Nothing could summarize Washington better. And it’s too bad that such a description is closer to the truth than not, but distrust and lack of faith is just about all Americans have in our government these days. At least it feels that way. But it was a one-two punch. But can you really rush change? Of course not. Yo...

Surviving Adulthood: Thanksgiving 2013
http://doyouhaveanyhobbies.blogspot.com/2014/04/thanksgiving-2013.html
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said 'I drank what? Friday, April 25, 2014. I arrived late Friday night. Saturday was really the only good day for the beach, so we headed out there (about a 20 minute drive) and I enjoyed every minute of it! Who doesn't love a good Wes Anderson film? Wednesday my SIL and I trekked down to St. Augustine to visit the outlets and check out the oldest city in the United States! Thanksgiving Day was a marathon! I had hosted my first Thanksgiving the year ...

Surviving Adulthood: Where did February Go?
http://doyouhaveanyhobbies.blogspot.com/2013/02/where-did-february-go.html
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said 'I drank what? Monday, February 25, 2013. Where did February Go? I also helped with the epic Valentine's Day surprise in which my roomie's best friend flew into Dallas. He was here for a job interview, but I almost think he would have come even without it. Good times were had, and I almost convinced him to move from LA to Dallas on the condition I would subsidize his fashion designing by letting him live in our loft rent free. Almost. Here you'll...

Surviving Adulthood: The Rest of the Holidaze
http://doyouhaveanyhobbies.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-rest-of-holidaze.html
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said 'I drank what? Sunday, January 27, 2013. The Rest of the Holidaze. I spent Christmas, and several weeks after, down with the flu and a sinus infection. After Christmas Eve, I literally spent the entire week in my sweats on my parents' couch watching who knows what. I didn't even go see any movies! I'm still sneaking opportunities to track down the holiday flicks. Here are some pictures:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Linen, Lace, and Love.

Surviving Adulthood: California Adventures
http://doyouhaveanyhobbies.blogspot.com/2013/01/california-adventures.html
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said 'I drank what? Sunday, January 27, 2013. I headed to California for a "work retreat" in December. I headed up the weekend before to spend time with family and friends. Here are a few pictures from the weekend:. Long story, but sometimes you get your ring cut off by your neighborhood fireman. This was my first time to Hollywood and this is the star that tickled my fancy. The view I woke up to every morning. Not a bad place, no?

Surviving Adulthood: On Health
http://doyouhaveanyhobbies.blogspot.com/2013/03/on-health.html
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said 'I drank what? Saturday, March 16, 2013. Healthy is such a relative term. We maintain healthy weights. We maintain healthy diets. We generally don't get ill. I've always generally been in the category of the latter two - generally maintained a somewhat healthy diet and haven't been stricken down with illness very often - maybe once a year I'd get a cold. Elementary Principal Blog: Read! Read! Read!
http://indianspringsprincipalblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/read-read-read.html
As a society there are more and more people who struggle with reading. Some struggle with the mechanics of reading and some struggle with the will to read. I happened upon a book on facebook this morning, and the title caught my eye. The title of the book is, "Igniting a Passion for Reading". His premise in what I can gather at the beginning of the book is that we have to do all we can as educators and parents. To get our students to learn the mechanics of reading and then work on their will to read.
