Mungerruns: Race Recap: The Stumpy Creek International Triathlon
http://mungerruns.blogspot.com/2015/07/race-recap-stumpy-creek-international.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Race Recap: The Stumpy Creek International Triathlon. Undaunted, I anxiously await the start of the Stumpy Creek International Triathlon. Since I now have one tri. Under my belt, I feel fairly confident about what I need to do. I've arrayed all my gear next to my bike, reminded myself where it is in the transition zone (the better to find it in the rush following the swim), and caught up with a few friends in the starting area. There may be some Garmin error there, but still. Final...

Mungerruns: The Awesome Epochal DART Hiking Expedition
http://mungerruns.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-awesome-epochal-dart-hiking.html
Tuesday, June 25, 2013. The Awesome Epochal DART Hiking Expedition. As the DART Hiking Trip was in its late planning stages, a thought occurred to me. We were planning an epic 3-day hike through the Linville Gorge Wilderness. We wouldn't be able to start until after Tristan got off work at 5 pm on Friday. It was now Wednesday. Don't you usually need to get a permit to camp in a wilderness area? After some frantic packing, I managed to meet Tristan and Joe at Tristan's office in Lincolnton, and by 6:00 pm...

Mungerruns: Race Recap: The Pikes Peak Marathon
http://mungerruns.blogspot.com/2014/08/race-recap-pikes-peak-marathon.html
Monday, August 18, 2014. Race Recap: The Pikes Peak Marathon. Pikes Peak, from near Manitou Springs. The barren peak above the treeline represents only about the last 2,500 feet of climbing. Manitou Springs is in a valley below. In this race, we used the Barr trail, but another infamous trail, The Incline, is clearly visible in this photo as a diagonal up the ridge in front of Pikes Peak. The bottom of that trail is still about 500 feet above where we started. Me and Baki at the start. Up, up, up we went...

Mungerruns: Race Recap: The Crater Lake Marathon
http://mungerruns.blogspot.com/2012/08/race-recap-crater-lake-marathon.html
Sunday, August 12, 2012. Race Recap: The Crater Lake Marathon. On the next visit, Greta and I had the chance to hike down to the lake and take the boat ride to Wizard Island in the middle, seeing the lake from an entirely different perspective. Now, nearly 20 years later, I've had a chance to visit again, and what I've been struck with is how big. The course on Thursday, I wondered whether I would be able to take the time to enjoy the vistas around the lake as I ran past during the Crater Lake Marathon.
