Parson Cross Library Residency: Week 1: 30/03/11
http://ruthiefordpxlibrary.blogspot.com/2011/04/week-1.html
I decided to set up shop in the computer area of the library. This is the most used area so the librarians suggested I would most likely meet people here. I decided to use this empty shelf as a display case. I added lots of lovely wool to be used. Some knitting and crochet books for inspiration. And some photos and examples of work that I have made in the past to show people what I will up to. I spent the day making pink crocheted flowers to be installed on the street at some point. Ian had a go too.

Parson Cross Library Residency: week 2: 06/04/11
http://ruthiefordpxlibrary.blogspot.com/2011/04/week-2-060411.html
At lunchtime I went on a walk with Ian around the area. We again talked about how the area has changed and what life is like there. We installed five graffiti knit blossoms in a willow tree on the old abandoned college site. It will be interesting to see what happens to them! After lunch I installed the daffodils in the window. This went really well and created a great deal of interest from passers by and library goers. I think the daffs look great in their new home!

architecture for everyone april 2010: Architecture for Everyone 2010

Architecture for Everyone 2010. Architecture for Everyone is a scheme set up by the Steven Lawrence Foundation aimed at giving young black and ethnic minority people exposure to university education with a focus on architecture. I worked with young people to create this 'visual brief' to explain their needs and desires for the creation of an 'urban playground' which they then took on the architects who worked with them to create designs and models based on their ideas.

The Lisen Profile Travel Journal. Dear Carole, Diane, Eileen, Ian and Jo,. Anyway it was good to have a good rant at each other and attempt to set the world to rights! So this is the last week of part 1! In the first week we looked at the exhibition that brought us together in the first place. We looked at how the artist had created a situation where people took journeys to observe and document a place. Workshop 5: Wednesday 13. We will first discuss our postcards from across the 4 weeks. This week is th...

At lunchtime I went to meet Ian at the old college site to have a look at some of the new graffiti that has gone up in the last week. At the weekend Sheffield graffiti artists Faunagraphic and Rocket01 did an amazing collaborative wall with a French artist joining them. Also painted lamppost have appeared this week with gorgeous lace print patterns and gold stenciled cats and stars. Exciting happenings! Simple template. Powered by Blogger.

Sharrow Lantern Carnival 2009. The Sharrow Lantern Carnival is an annual event which has taken place on the Sunday before Easter for the past 5 years. This year the theme was 'Folklore: Myths and Legends' which gave great scope for some fantastical creations including the genie and the lamp and the iron man, both of which stood at over 3 metres tall! Pop Up Access Space: Pop Up Access Space, June 2011
http://ruthiefordpopupaccess.blogspot.com/2011/02/pop-up-access-space-june-2011.html
Pop Up Access Space, June 2011. In June 2011 I worked with participants at Access Space to create a 'pop-up' installation to celebrate all that is good about Access Space, a social media lab that is run on free open source software and recycled technology. We created this amazing visual explosion in the foyer and then used it as a backdrop to film their 10 year anniversary video which will be used to promote the space. Video to come! Simple template.
