Along the way...: February 2009
http://lynnettehoff.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2009. Yesterday I ventured south of Cordoba to the little town of Alta Gracia where Che Guevera grew up- its a wealthy suburb with posh white houses and brown curved tile roofs with palm trees, a gardened lake area with a clock tower, and this jesuit estancia place- also an impressive building and property. The town is beautiful and the kind of place you can imagine being very insular. Thursday, February 26, 2009. La Bomba wasnt to be. That night a car across the street from the ho...

Along the way...: December 2008
http://lynnettehoff.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 06, 2008. I seem to write the same way i read. Not very often, but in a completely unhealthy, can't stop til I'm done no matter what important things should be taking priority, sort of way. I have read a lot of good memoirs lately. Here are some I recommend. Scartissue- by red hot chilli peppers front man. Between a rock and a hard place- by adventure dude who had to cut his arm off in a canyon. Friday, December 05, 2008. I'd be so much more productive. Monday, December 01, 2008. Being...

Friday, October 30, 2009. Had a conversation with an evangelical muslim the other day. It's fascinating how convincing any passionate person can be. i think i've heard equally compelling arguments for and against just about every religion. you take any eloquent individual who has thought things through, and it's likely they can make a strong case for anything. No Average Days: Thailand
http://no-average-days.blogspot.com/2008/08/thailand.html
People back home ask me what an average day is like here. There are no average days. Sunday, July 20, 2008. Jeremy and Michelle got married in Thailand. Why? Because Thailand is halfway between Perth and Seattle, and makes for a fabulous holiday. I met up with Jer, Michelle, Josh and Elisa in Bangkok the weekend before the wedding and we played tourist and went to the dentist. We also all got massages, multiple times, because Thai massage is one of the wonders of the world. The wedding itself was amazing...

People back home ask me what an average day is like here. There are no average days. Monday, October 24, 2005. Peace On Earth, Goodwill to Men (and women). Peace be with you. The holidays are in full swing here in Bangladesh. Lights deck the buildings, the evenings are packed with holiday parties, places of worship have special services, and every one is eagerly awaiting their holiday bonus. Many Muslims fast all day during Ramadan. All Muslims, as well as most other Bangladeshi's, eat iftari. "I...The G...

No Average Days: The Genocide is a slippery reality
http://no-average-days.blogspot.com/2008/08/genocide-is-slippery-subject.html
People back home ask me what an average day is like here. There are no average days. Thursday, August 07, 2008. The Genocide is a slippery reality. But all of the sudden it comes up: the G-bomb. I asked my host-dad how many siblings he had. We are 4. How many brothers and how many sisters? I am the only boy, and the youngest now. Now? My two brothers were killed in the genocide. Oh. The virgin is always fresh, fresh as the Genocide (laughter) That’s funny? Beside the floating heads of the debaters was ne...
