http://ericpratum.com/how-i-went-from-70-to-1400-subscribers-in-60-days
Eric Pratum's personal blog. How I went from 70 to 1,400 subscribers in 60 days. Years ago, a few months after I started this blog, I was chugging along at a few hundred subscribers and an average of 1,000-1,500 daily uniques. As with most everyone else, I have been concerned with how to get more subscribers. At one point or another. Over time, my post frequency and passion waned. Three months ago, I sat at under 70 subscribers. Today, I sit at over 1,400 subscribers. How did this happen you say? That po...

Don't pay attention to social scores. They're all flawed. - EricPratum.com

Eric Pratum's personal blog. Don’t pay attention to social scores. They’re all flawed. There might be a lot of hype around them, but as far as I’m concerned Klout. And similar social scoring. Mechanisms are too flawed to be useful right now. To the best of my knowledge, the first social scoring mechanism that really caught on was tweet grader (formerly Twitter Grader). I never liked it. Of course, it was great if you had a higher number than the next guy, but how was your score determined? Now, this guy.

Consensus building and dividing
http://ericpratum.com/consensus-building-and-dividing
Eric Pratum's personal blog. Consensus building and dividing. Some people naturally excel at consensus building. They work to find middle ground. They try to get parties with differing views to talk about the things they do agree on. They cook dishes that don’t have have animal products or gluten yet taste the same as “the real stuff” because 1 person at the dinner table would prefer it that way. Other people are dividers. They need you to be on their side or the other. Neither is necessarily right.

Eric Pratum's personal blog. What I said at my cousin’s memorial. My cousin passed suddenly 2 weeks ago tonight. It was a horrific and unfortunate set of circumstances. I was asked to sum up some of the family’s feelings on him, kick off a time of friends and family sharing memories, and also speak on behalf of one half of his family during the memorial service. Below is what I said:. Grandpa’s mom said, “Keep it. I’ll use it for bait,” at which point Kyle pitched the fish ove...Kyle moved on from catchi...
