Sail Brunelle

Where Are They Now? Saturday, May 10, 2014. Passing under the Bay Bridge - - - YAY! Friday morning James Taylor the service manager and Tim the mechanic gave us the green light and we were off! We made the 9 am opening of Great Bridge bridge and slipped right into the lock with five other boats. We were out by 9:25. The next twelve miles only had a few slow downs as we waited for bridges to open and at the RR bridge they were doing a safety inspection - - - that took about 20 minutes. The next turn in ou...

Sail Brunelle: Atlantic Yacht Basin, Great Bridge, VA

http://sailbrunelle.blogspot.com/2014/05/atlantic-yacht-basin-great-bridge-va.html

Where Are They Now? Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Atlantic Yacht Basin, Great Bridge, VA. Eddy, our TowBoat US driver, picked us back up at 7 am Monday morning and we headed out against a strong north wind and an accompanying contrary current. we were glad we weren't trying to make with the 9.9. As we headed through the swing bridge at Pungo Ferry, we passed a Coast Guard ATN that looked like it was ready to to replace some missing day markers. My first reaction seeing the two girls was that they were texting!

Where Are They Now? Tuesday, November 19, 2013. St Augustine Friday thru Thursday. The only sun we saw Friday (sunrise) told it all."red sky at morning." We left before Bella. And had rain all day. The only bright spot was this gaggle of white pelicans. Settled in nicely at Camachee Cove for her holiday sojourn. Robby and Carol were due on Saturday and succeeded in making it to their marina by 1000. They joined us at 12 O for dinner after settling in and beginning the process of getting Bella. A friend h...

Where Are They Now? Wednesday, March 5, 2014. The Hinckley visit was a great success. That seemed to work well for everyone, but it meant no blogging as I usually do it when everyone is asleep. Ben got to dig, Oliver got to wrestle an alligator, Sam got to sail, Jess got to ride the alligator. And the boys did lots of adventuring. Dory also got in a lot of romping, running and swimming and digging. All in all Dan saw 10 different doctors in the past month! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Where Are They Now? Thursday, April 10, 2014. Vero to Cocoa to Daytona to St. Augustine. Florida is a lot nicer if you skip lots of bridges. Coming in at Ft. Pierce cut the number of bridges we had to open by about 10X! Before I get started on the trip north, I have to post this picture Dan took anchored off Merwin Island near Ft. Myers. it's for the kids. They always joked about his pictures with a teensy weensy white speck "That's an eagle! Well he did good this time. These were taken with the smaller ...

Where Are They Now? Friday, January 17, 2014. It looks like a B&W picture, but it's just indicative of the grayness of the day on Wednesday. Vero Beach has a great system of free buses that makes it easy to head either to the beach or across the bridge into town. The first stop is right between a Publix and West Marine. We took the 11:45 bus and found that it went to the beach first, so we had the grand tour before getting to the shopping area! We arrive at Lake Park Marina, get the same slip as three ye...

Sail Bug

Two landlocked newlyweds learning to sail. Monday, August 25, 2014. Our futures are so bright. Sunday dawned a beautiful and glorious day and we were not going to let anything like home improvements or social interaction get in our way of a good sail. So, like good pavement sailors, we rigged the boat in the driveway and loosened the goose to let the boom naturally roll into place, and then tightened it. Hey, let's just trailer it like this," Mike said as the sail rippled in the breeze. He grabbed the dr...
