Sailing "No Keys"

Tuesday, March 5, 2013. No Name Harbour, Key Biscayne. This can be an excellent anchorage almost in all wind conditions. When we arrived there were maybe a handful of boats. There were a few cabin cruisers and a few sailboats. The harbor filled up quickly over the next few days and it was party central on the weekend. There is a high end fish restaurant here, a laundry area and lots of picnic areas. Chris and I did a lot of walking here as our bicycles were still mounted on our Deck. This is our "Pet"!

Sailing "No Keys": May 2011

http://sailingnokeys.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 12, 2011. Classic Cars and Transportation in Cuba. The body work and paints jobs just awesome. You can tell that many hours of pride and workmanship has been done to these. There is also the Hop On Hop Off Bus. The fee for this is $5.00 CUC’s for the day and the route goes from one end of Varadero all the way up the tourist strip (approx. 25 miles) and returning back to where you started. Here is a collection of pictures of transportation in Cuba. Captain Chris and 1st Mate Louise.

Sailing "No Keys": March 2011

Wednesday, March 9, 2011. February 12, 2011. A group of us from the Marina went for a day trip to Matanza. We were picked up just outside of our Marina and the price of going on the bus was $10.00 CUC’s for a round trip. Matanza is about 40 miles away from the Marina to the west. The day was a bit overcast but perfect for traveling around. Cuba has hills, mountains and deep gorges. As you enter these caves, it is very muggy and warm. The steps become wet and slippery and the ceiling begins to drip. We co...

Sailing "No Keys": March 2012

Saturday, March 17, 2012. We were glad we left the south as another storm was coming. We just got back from Pete's Pub, just in time when the sky's opened up and wow did it rain. We caught rain and did some laundry, plus washed the boat from all its salt! It had rained all night with a good flash show as well. Today we went looking for lobsters and did a little fishing. Still skunked though, maybe next time! We plan to spend a few more days and head out to another destination! But we are watching the sky!

Sailing "No Keys": February 2013

http://sailingnokeys.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 25, 2013. We were up early, listened to our weather forecasts and headed south via the ICW. Ft. Lauderdale is the city of boats, canals and mansions. It’s nice to see and makes you wonder – Who lives there and what do they do for a living? We arrived at the Sunny Isle Bridge around 2:15pm and anchored in the little bay just north of this bridge. We had a great sail! Passing the Huge Ocean Going Freighters. A Freighter being Unloaded. The Hard Rock Cafe. South Beach off Yonder. NOAA updat...

Life of a nomad. Sunday, April 20, 2014. Jungle trek (or- i left my heart in tumpaim). Two weeks ago, i had the experience that i've been long-awaiting. a three day trek to the jungle to preach in shuar communities. i'd been told emphatically of all the things i would need - 'boots! You can't go in anything less than tall rainboots! Water purifier, food, mosquito net, change of clothes, bug repellant, sleeping bag, flashlight. They were all relaxed and friendly, took a few tracts and invitation in shuar,...
