In 1994, Willy Ker sailed, mostly singlehanded, his Contessa 32 from his home in England around Cape Horn to Antarctica, then to Russia, Alaska, and on to Vancouver Island where Lars met and sailed with him. Willy made many singlehanded passages to Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland, His Boat "ASSENT" was made famous in the 1979 Fastnet race when she was the only boat under 35 feet to finish.
