Asymp; Leave a comment. Saw these at Caleta San Juanico. Thought they were a thing. Quick check on the innertubes say they might be common. Dunno. Build a boat, sail a boat. Asymp; Leave a comment. Not that it mattered, or that we could have done anything about it, but we checked the Eastern Pacific Tropical Forecast before we left for a short boat trip on Puget Sound Sunday afternoon. Hurricane Odile was still supposed to pass up the outside (Western) shore of Baja, and while the peninsula would get a little too much rain in a little too little amount of time, all was well(ish). EDIT: The best quality rumors are being collected by Holly on the.

Build a boat, sail a boat. Asymp; 6 Comments. Since we’re not sailing, we’re thinking about sailing. Specifically, we’re thinking about what to do with the prop while we’re sailing. We have a huge fixed prop. Huge. This is great for motoring. But when we sail, the prop spins as the water moves past it. It moves a lot, and it’s hard to stop. I’m guessing (wildly) that it could generate 25 hp at 7 kts. Really hard to stop. So, in Mexico, we’ll continue to motor sail, running the motor whenever we mov...

Build a boat, sail a boat. Asymp; 6 Comments. After a particularly bad day dealing with the supply chains, we found ourselves trapped by Deception Pass. Instead of running the pass at sundown with 5-6 knots of following current, we untied from the dock and are anchored at Hope Island. We’ll get up and leave before dawn tomorrow. You can follow us on www.marinetraffic.com. You can follow our weather by checking the NOAA wind and wave forecasts: http:/ weather.noaa.gov/fax/ptreyes.shtml#WIND. We should mak...

Sail Somewhere | Irene & Gary afloat
Irene and Gary afloat. August 11, 2015. Norman’s Cay, Bahamas. Without question, it is absolutely gorgeous here. We have anchored in white sand about ten feet deep. Even in faint moonlight we can see the sea bottom and it’s littered with starfish and sand dollars. Our closest neighbor is a sailboat anchored far enough away that we need binoculars to see if there’s anyone on board. I guess we’ve left the mega yachts behind. Since this post is over the low bandwidth ham radio connection (Thanks Winlink!
