http://gaynor-takahashi.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Sanae's Bilingual Blog is HERE! My trip home, a.k.a the disaster. Wednesday, 11 February 2015. Today is 建国記念の日 in Japan - National Foundation Day. It was established in 1966 as a commeration of Japan's establishment and apparently "to nurture a love for the country". I asked Cian how much country-loving he felt for Nippon and he told me to shut up and let him watch a repeat of the the Italy-Ireland rugby game. The Japanese national anthem) and learning how wonderful the Emperor is. Posted by Brian Gaynor.

Sanae's Bilingual Blog is HERE! The rest of the day. Its not the years, honey. Twas the night before Christmas. I am in Singapore at the moment, ostensibly to att. Japan Cup - a brief eulogy. Sunday, 28 December 2014. Sanae was at it again, throwing bad money after worse. Today was the 59th running of the Arima Kinen. The Arima Memorial Stakes for all you monolinguals - shame on you), and Mammy snuck off down to the local Rice-Paddy Powers for a bit of 'an auld flutter'. And true to form, she lost. Then ...

Sanae's Bilingual Blog is HERE! A river runs through it. The Japanese Red Cross. Deforestation, the Gobi Desert and Me. Thursday, 28 May 2015. A river runs through it. But I digress. To repeat, I have yet to read Mr. Macclean's short story (I will, I promise), but even unread I reckon there were more fish caught in it than what me and Cian managed last Saturday. Only to be nearly eaten by a grizzly bear! Well, maybe not a grizzly bear, or even a bear really. Sanae, after looking at the photographs, s...

An appeal specifically aimed at our regular punster west of the Shannon. It is held on the last Sunday of November each year which means, yes almanac fans, this coming Sunday. And why am I telling you this? I am of course loathe to mention of any this to Sanae for fear of what I may unleash. Posted by Brian Gaynor.

Sanae's Bilingual Blog is HERE! Barbeques and the Sunday Game. Mazdas, massages, and me. Were building an ark. Monday, 20 July 2015. Yes, a car park. As the plot is surrounded by residential houses with their own parking we are a bit baffled by this. Cian reckons the story is a cover for building a secret missile silo aimed at the Chinese. Could be, could be. Posted by Brian Gaynor. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sanae's Bilingual Blog is HERE! The World Cup - some thoughts. Sports Day Part II. Monday, 30 June 2014. The World Cup - some thoughts. 2) Is it just me or did the entire Chile team look like 11 convicts who had just escaped from the Santiago Prison. I mean all of them were sporting some serious tattoos and bad-ass haircuts. And what on earth was Andre Agassi doing coaching them? 3) There should be an Irish word for ' schadenfreude. 4) That Messi lad - Argentina's answer to Joe Clooney. What the World Cu...

Sanae's Bilingual Blog is HERE! The new school year. Monday, 27 April 2015. Feck all. And certainly not the vote. Obviously 'No taxation without representation' doesn't translate into Japanese. My thoughts are beginning to turn revolutionary. Posted by Brian Gaynor. Wednesday, 22 April 2015. Last Saturday was 参観日 sankanbi. In both Cian and Sanae's schools. Sankanbi. She maintained her composure rather well. Then again it is my third year visiting the school for sankanbi. For the 'show class' T. sensei.

Sanae's Bilingual Blog is HERE! The Northern Horse Park Marathon Event. Sunday, 25 May 2014. The Northern Horse Park Marathon Event. The title says it all really. Another month another marathon event that doesn't actually involve running a marathon. In my case it was half a marathon while for Sanae and Cian it was, ahem, 2.5 kilometres. But they were a long 2.5 kilometres. Tired of Daddy stealing all the athletic glory, Mammy and the young fella decided to "go for gold! And hurling them into the tree top...

Gaynor-Takahashi: Fireworks

Sanae's Bilingual Blog is HERE! Barbeques and the Sunday Game. Mazdas, massages, and me. Were building an ark. Monday, 27 July 2015. In Japan because we are all responsible citizens, mature beyond our years, anybody can buy fireworks pretty much anywhere. That anybody includes Cian and that anywhere includes our local supermarket. Summer is fireworks season and evenings are filled with the joyous sounds of exploding gunpowder and the excited shrieks of kids (and adults too). Posted by Brian Gaynor.
