Sunday, June 29, 2008. SOMA lands in Harbin, China! The Sound of Music is now back on the ground in China! We took the fastest train in the world, the Maglev, into Shanghai. It runs on magnets and went 350 kilometers per hour! During the mid-day, it goes 450 kmh! The flight attendants literally evacuated their carts and ran to seat to buckle in. We arrived in Harbin as the sun was rising at 3:30 am! What a weird place! That's all for now! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Video from the Show: Scene 1.

The Sound of Music - Asia tour 2008. Tuesday, August 12, 2008. I think I forgot to blog about our First Annual SOMA Olympic Paddle Boat Races! It's a brilliant tale. We were all set to meet in the lobby at 3 pm on Friday afternoon in Fuzhou. Costumes and mascots were encouraged for teams, but Michael (Captain von Trapp) and I had not planned to do anything for our team: The Thunderous, Rampaging, Monstrous Rubber Duckies. Yes, the name was his idea. We ate a quick lunch at McDonald's (shame on us! Each t...

I am sitting in the Philippine airport wishing the "free public wifi" network actually worked. Until then, I'll write up my blog and get ready to post it later. Our run in Macau was fantastic! They were so nice and helped us find a store to buy party favors for the double birthday party we had that night. The presents - an elegant Chinese robe for James and a new backpack for Greg, to replace hi...

Friday, August 1, 2008. Guangzhou - Hotter than Alabama! It's hard to believe that a place can be hotter and muggier than Alabama in August, but we found it. Guangzhou has been unbelievably hot. So hot, they seem to bottle sweat here! We have all truly sweat buckets here. Thankfully, we got a bit of a respite yesterday as some rain moved in and cooled it down a bit. The. The Sound of Music - Asia tour 2008. Friday, June 20, 2008. I am back in China as of today, June 20, 2008. It feels familiar, feels right, feels like home! Clearly my past weeks in China have been a positive experience overall. But first: a few words about the time before our return to China:. Who could ask for anything more? Sarah Comer – Bringing Folk Arts Back to the Folk. The Dusty Strings Dance Band. Photo by Denis Box. 8220;She’s not just young fleet fingers; she has a real feel for the dynamics and drama, AND the history that makes it make sense as music…I’m not really crazy about young people who can play a bunch of licks, but I’m terrifically impressed when someone knows so much music.” Review of Sarah’s performance at NW Folklife by Chico Schwall.
