One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Friday, September 14, 2007. Tomorrow is a big day. I am backpacking and camping for the full weekend. I am nervous, excited and looking forward to the experience. I will be doing 34 miles over a 2 day hike in the Appalachian Trail, going from the Swatara. Gap to Port Clinton (south to north). The plan is to do 17 miles tomorrow, spending the night in the Hertlein. Gap, leaving my car in Port Clinton; the challenge.

One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Saturday, August 11, 2007. AVM Update - Challenge of first opinion. After the second opinion, which agreed with the diagnosis but differed with the treatment, the question was the need for embolization prior to Gamma Knife Radiation. According to Dr Rossenwasser, size is important (at least in treating AVM's). Embolization will reduce the volume of the AVM. 6-8 weeks after. Embolization is an overnight stay at the ho...

One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Broken will and destroyed calling - Shenandoah. Sometimes the events of nature and man get in the way and there is a point when a man is broken, when his will to achieve his calling is destroyed. Oh well, will plan the hike for later this year. So much for a broken man with a destroyed call! Location: Skyline Dr, Shenandoah National Park, Front Royal, VA 22630, USA. View my complete profile.

Did my first 2008 hike- 13 miles in the Appalachia Trail (PA) from Wind gap towards Fox Gap. . December 17Th- the 1st embolization. Was done, after a long wait for schedule availability. Procedure went well - a new embolization. Surgery happened in the morning, was awake by noon and released from the hospital the following morning. Most uncomfortable part was the urinary catheter.

One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Saturday, May 8, 2010. Breaking new ground- my recent backpack to the Rainbow Plateau in Northern Arizona was my longest and "lightest" backpack. This was a Sierra Club program, which I joined because it was early in the year and, in my grand plans, was practice for my trip to El Cocuy, in Colombia. What did I learn? I can do things that I thought I could not do. Practice, practice, practice. View my complete profile.

One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Sunday, August 10, 2008. Linear Accelerometer was applied to my AVM on Thursday, August 7, 2008 - instead of the Gamma Knife; seems they are equivalent. Follow up of the AVM will be done every 6 months using MRI scans- but any final determination regarding the status of the AVM will take about 2 years. One day at a time. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Sunday, September 25, 2011. Wonderland Trail - September 2011. In the fall of 2010, Dale Gear (Big Bend backpack) suggested that we do the Wonderland Trail in the fall 2011. He got the permits and did all the planning on the camps and schedules for a 10 day circuit. Doug Hogg (AMC NY/NJ) joined the group. Dale could not join because of personal reasons just prior to the trip. Total mileage per my GPS was 84.2 mil...

One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Zoe left us today, leaving a huge hole in our lives. I have cried my eyes during the day- when the Doctor called to tell me that she had a growth in the colon that had extended to the liver, that it looked like cancer and that her prognosis was very poor- that no treatment was really available for her. She died peacefully, comfortably, humanely and with Barbara and I close to her. I kn...

One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Thursday, July 3, 2008. I still do not know what the cause of the underlying cause of the headache was. The MRI showed the AVM and the rest is history -some still to be written. And then I can be run over by a bus, or killed by a falling piano. Knowldege forces you to act. It also creates stress and the benefits of that knowledge are questionable. If that piano falls on my head, all was for nothing.

One day at a time. This is a personal blogs of things unimportant and important (to me). Friday, January 1, 2010. 2009- it was a VERY good year. This was a good year. Sara graduated Cum Laude from GW and I was so proud of her; she worked hard and the Cum Laude was unexpected and we found out on the way to the graduation ceremony. It was such a thrill. Responsibility as a parent- to provide my daughter. With the tools to be able to deal with life. We should never take. Company. Cuba Libre with her fri...
