Jerusalem, my temporary home.

Jerusalem, my temporary home. Sunday, March 31, 2013. Who knew that when I went to Jerusalem I would learn how to herd sheep? I didn't.but we definitely took a field trip to this place where we got to herd sheep, and there were goats too! They kept themselves pretty segregated though. What did I learn from this experience? Probably that I am not cut out to be a shepherd. But really, we talked about how Jesus Christ is the good shepherd and he will always help his children find their way. How cool is that?

Jerusalem, my temporary home. : My First Half Marathon...in Jerusalem!

http://www.sarainjerusalem.blogspot.com/2013/03/my-first-half-marathonin-jerusalem.html

Jerusalem, my temporary home. Saturday, March 30, 2013. My First Half Marathon.in Jerusalem! On March 1st, I ran my very first half marathon! And the best part about it? I ran it in Jerusalem! How cool is that? I think the number one reason why I decided to sign up to run a half, without any training (actually, that's not true.I ran once before it), is because I would have the bragging rights to say that "Yeah, I ran a half marathon in Jerusalem.no big deal." Truth is, it was a big deal! It was fun becau...

Jerusalem, my temporary home. Saturday, February 23, 2013. Tonight was Arab Culture Night and it was SO MUCH FUN! Most everyone dressed up in their most Arab looking attire and came ready to party and celebrate the Arab culture! At the beginning of the night, we had two Imams, prayer leaders, come and explain the process of prayer to us. Muslims pray five times a day always facing Mecca and recite different verses of the Koran. These Imams have the Koran memorized, it's crazy! Don't we look hott? The bes...

Jerusalem, my temporary home. : Shephelah, Shephelah, Goliath's Back!

http://www.sarainjerusalem.blogspot.com/2013/02/shephelah-shephelah-goliaths-back.html

Jerusalem, my temporary home. Saturday, February 23, 2013. Shephelah, Shephelah, Goliath's Back! For one of our field trips, we went to the Shephelah Valley, where David took down the mighty Philistine giant Goliath! We first went to Beth Shemesh, overlooking the Sorek Valley, which is where Samson (you know, the guy with the hair that killed a ton of Philistines) grew up. These are two of my favorite boys, Hunter (left) and Sawyer (right). Isn't this a precious picture? Oh I love David! I feel like this...

Jerusalem, my temporary home. : Hezekiah's Tunnel

http://www.sarainjerusalem.blogspot.com/2013/03/hezekiahs-tunnel.html

Jerusalem, my temporary home. Saturday, March 2, 2013. On February 11th, we took a field trip to, wait for it.The City of David! Before we got to walk through the tunnel (which was really the only thing I wanted to do here) we had to watch this video about the City of David. But it was cool.because it was in 3D! We finally got to jump into the tunnel, with water up to our thighs at some points! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My First Half Marathon.in Jerusalem! What's this blog all about?

Oh, the Places You'll Go!: The Trojan Horseless Troy

http://lindsmb.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-trojan-horseless-troy.html

Oh, the Places You'll Go! Tuesday, April 16, 2013. The Trojan Horseless Troy. We reenact strange signs we find, take pictures of a random turtle, and dig for sea shells in the dirt. Probably isn't what my teacher would like me to remember about Troy but the fact that the place had Turtles in sea shells is pretty satisfying to me! Pretend like we saw something cool for this picture ok? A cool picture in Turkey.that's all. No Trojan Horse :(. I could stay here forever! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://lindsmb.blogspot.com/2013/01/snow-snow-wherever-i-go.html

Oh, the Places You'll Go! Thursday, January 10, 2013. Snow Snow Wherever I Go. Today is my first full day in Jerusalem and it is FREEZING! There's four inches of snow on the ground and it is so snowy you can't even see the Old City outside the windows. They said that it hasn't snowed like this in ten years! Looks like I'm cursed. Just can't get away from the cold no matter where I go! Have I already asked you that? So so beautiful. Unfortunately it isn't exactly made for winter weather like this so t...

http://lindsmb.blogspot.com/2013/01/lets-get-lost.html

Oh, the Places You'll Go! Sunday, January 13, 2013. Wow what a day! It's been a full day of adventure lets just say that! We explored there for a little while before meeting back. Half of us went back to the center while the other half stayed in the city. I chose to stay and we headed back to the Old City. All we wanted to do was get lost and we certainly did just that! Every vendor we walked passed said, "Ohhh the Mormons! January 13, 2013 at 12:59 PM. January 18, 2013 at 4:42 PM. I created this site fo...

http://lindsmb.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Oh, the Places You'll Go! Sunday, January 27, 2013. And then it went BOOM! What A. Day! They knew one of the security guards that works at the center and comes to their restaurant all the time and they phoned him while we were there to say hello. Then they brought out the best salads I have ever had for all of us on the house. After we all got our food, they brought out this thin crust, veggie pizza appetizer thing on the house too! It was so incredible. McCall got called to Minneapolis, Minnesota an...

Oh, the Places You'll Go! Friday, April 12, 2013. Istanbul doesn’t know what just hit them; the J-rue crew are in town! Day Two here in Turkey consisted of a full day of site seeing in Istanbul, shopping in the Grand Bazar, and a Boat ride around the Bosporus strait. Jennie and I in front of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Inside the Blue Mosque- Stunning! If only everyone didn't have to take off their shoes to go in.the feet small kinda ruins the whole experience. Looking over the Bosporus strait. And Jesu...

Oh, the Places You'll Go! Thursday, February 28, 2013. Beach, Bikes, and Bartering. Last Sunday we finally took a trip to Tel Aviv. 8:30am to 9:30pm we were going going going. It was refreshing to finally have a trip with no lectures, no dirt tels, and no schedule! Bartering for jewelry at the flea market in Tel Aviv. At the coast right when we got off the bus. Could not love life more right now. Walking through an alleyway in old Jaffa. Friday, February 22, 2013. Most adventurous thing I've done yet!

From Dark to Light in Iceland!

From Dark to Light in Iceland! Monday, May 25, 2009. My packing is coming along. So far, I have a densely rolled layer of clothes on the bottom of my duffle bag and have begun to work on fitting in my shoes in the most efficient way possible. My room looks messy, much to my despair, but my wall decorations still are cheerfully adorning the wall. Wow So much has happened in the last couple of weeks. We have been going NON stop! I was in a short sleeved t-shirt for a couple of minutes one day! But before w...

A Year in Himeji, Japan

A Year in Himeji, Japan. Friday, August 15, 2008. I thought my last post would be the last, but I have to tell you about Obon. Obon. Is a three day long holiday for worshipping ancestors. Many businesses close this week, so although Obon is not a public holiday, many people have the week off (sort of like the week between Christmas and New Years). My friend's daughter and niece, rinsing their mouths before entering the cemetary. If you don't believe me, see the photos! After their sparklers went out, the...

Moving Out, Swearing in, Settling in, and Just Generally Swearing. Well, once again I failed horribly at keeping up with this blog, but so it goes. So, let me start off with what I left off with last post. Swearing in. I moved out of my host family’s house on January 13. It’s not like I’m gonna leave behind the shoes I bought or all the free clothes I’d gotten. Swearing in happened on January 15. Okay, mini-rant over. Moving on!
