From ‘Flogging a Dead Horse’ (1993) Paul Reas. In collaboration with First Story (North West), I’ll be running a workshop at an inter-schools event at the Impressions Gallery in Bradford. We’ll be using images from Paul Reas’ exhibition ‘Day Dreaming About the Good Times? 8217; as a starting point. It’s a fascinating retrospective, which explores class and culture in Britain during the 1980s and 1990s. There’s more information on the gallery’s website. Subscribe to my blog. 8216;I Have a Dream….’. January 14, 2015. What do these words mean to you? The phrase was the focus for a secondary school event I attended at the University of Huddersfield last week. The students, all participants in the First Story. About equality. And then we listened to a cheesy Abba song. Sign in with Twitter. Sign in with Facebook. A garden among fires. Diary of a multi-faith reading group. Farewell, not goodbye. April 24, 2012. Consciously and unconsciously, then, through a process of gentle seepage, filial duty became another theme underlying my choices of material. Yet beyond all this he managed to prize open for himself a chink through which the sun could still shine. He could blow a kiss at his...

Monday, 21 January 2013. On my work table. As I was working on new collages this past couple of weeks, I took photos of my work table from time to time. When I'm working on a series of collages, or in this case two series, I usually lay out a few of the canvas or wooden supports I'm going to use as well as the boxes of materials: papers, scraps of fabric, antique photos, pressed flowers and leaves, antique letters, glass beads, old keys. This is - of course - loads of fun with a kitten present. Andas I w...
