Photography 2 - Social Documentary: So what did I learn?
http://sclarke-socdoc.blogspot.com/2014/09/so-what-did-i-learn.html
Saturday, September 20, 2014. So what did I learn? Putting aside the fact that the course is old and lacks the intellectual rigor I need at this stage, the subject matter was a real problem. I do not have a problem photographing people, with or without their consent, however, people increasingly have a problem with me photographing them. Not me specifically, anyone! Photography 2 - Social Documentary: February 2014
http://sclarke-socdoc.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 22, 2014. Assignment 4: City and Park. Visually I have chosen B&W for these photographs. This is not inspired by Frank, but is a personal response to the material I am creating, I simply find that mono works better for these subjects. I initially considered completing the whole course in mono as a learning experience, that is no longer my goal and for sure assignment 5 will be colour. OK, not terribly sophisticated, but half the world seems to have given up with actually looking at stu...
Photography 2 - Social Documentary: Assingment 5: Submission
http://sclarke-socdoc.blogspot.com/2014/07/assingment-5-submission.html
Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Rather late, but here is my submission text for Assignment 5:. The advice was sound and I have learned a tremendous amount, but it has been hard, very hard! Http:/ sclarke-landscape.blogspot.de/2012/07/assignment-5-final-set.html. Privacy Law and the impact on German Photography. Understandably, this has led the modern German state to adopt strict privacy laws. People are entitled to protect their person, their reputation, and their image. The right not to be photographed...1) Oh...
Photography 2 - Social Documentary: Looking for Inspiration and rediscovering Art
http://sclarke-socdoc.blogspot.com/2014/07/looking-for-inspiration-and.html
Sunday, July 13, 2014. Looking for Inspiration and rediscovering Art. I took a day off and walked across the city to the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich's modern art gallery. Specifically I went to see the following exhibition:. Http:/ www.pinakothek.de/en/kalender/2014-04-02/43330/people-river-landscape. I am also unable to not take photographs of the fabric of the museum, it has featured in a fair number of courses and assignment submissions. Among the work was Lee Friedlander:. However, the point of th...
Photography 2 - Social Documentary: January 2014
http://sclarke-socdoc.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 24, 2014. P35: a city at night. Sometimes, a little fill flash can help, but generally only works in dusk light, in night it blows out the foreground and creates a fake looking photo. My favorite hotel in Singapore is the Swiss Hotel at Clarke Quay, just on the Singapore river and adjacent to a huge area of bars and restaurants. Not the cheapest place in the world to eat and suffering from a tourist premium, it is worth it my opinion. Same location from the other side. Moving people are m...

People & Place: End of the module notes
http://johnumney.blogspot.com/2012/10/end-of-module-notes.html
Sunday, 7 October 2012. End of the module notes. People and Place module notes:. The first assignment I found the easiest. Mark was willing and well versed – he has sat many times before. The idea of a continuing portrait is an intriguing idea, though whether a close member of the family is a good idea I’m not sure. There are pro’s and cons and the discussion of which is not for the here and now. Assignment two, was a journey that I wouldn’t want to make again! On photographers and photography. Eryl died...

The Art of Photography
The Art of Photography. Open College of Arts Course Blog. Monday, November 15, 2010. Assignment 5: Tutor Feedback. Somehow this blog entry has been put off over and over again, perhaps I am reluctant to finish or more likely now that I am courses 2 and 3 in my OCA studies I have simply moved on. However, for the sake of completeness here is a summary of my tutors feedback and my thoughts. A better choice for the right hand image might have been. I appreciate that in preparing images for publication the w...

Photography 1: Digital Photographic Practice. Open College of Arts Course Blog. Monday, July 18, 2011. Assignment 5: Tutor Feedback. I have considered adding a copy to my final submission for grading, however, this link provides page by page access to the complete volume at reasonable quality. In terms of specific feedback there were a number of suggested changes to images in the set:. Here I am completely to blame for simple laziness, I have re-cropped the image to remove the pink object in the frame:.

Saturday, September 15, 2012. Assignment 5: Tutor Feedback. I am now at the end of this course, just need to get everything printed and in the post for the November assessment. It has been a great journey, I have learned more in the last 12 months about photography than in my life to date. Wonderful course and fabulous support from my tutor. Sunday, August 26, 2012. These are the images that I have pulled from the set together with their replacements:. Sunday, August 19, 2012. Just hit a major, but not t...

Photography 1: People and Place
Photography 1: People and Place. Open College of Arts Course Blog. Wednesday, February 2, 2011. People and Place - In retrospect. When I came to the end of TAOP I was quite jubilant to have completed the course and excited to be submitting my work for examination, been over 20 years since the last time I have done anything similar. However, with People and Place I am quite sorry to be completing this course, because of what I have learned and the pleasure I have taken from the activity. To study practici...
