Prepare the Way

Sunday, May 31, 2009. Final Day in Egypt. We arrived in Atlanta Saturday morning about 5:30 am after a non-stop 12 1/2 hour flight from Tel Aviv. It is sooooo good to be home. We thought you'd want to know, so here is our final day in Egypt and some final thoughts prior to traveling to Israel. As the doors were closing, our host yells through the train window, "Brent, you should have gotten off". Strange land, don't speak the language, and don't have any local currency in hand. Real bummer. As I ...It ha...

Prepare the Way: A Little Catch Up...

http://www.scoopinguptreasures.blogspot.com/2009/05/little-catch-up.html

Wednesday, May 27, 2009. A Little Catch Up. Where do we start when so much is going on? It has been a most eventful several days.  Hope you haven't given up and quit checking our progress.  We are now in Israel.   All is well and never boring.  Our God is surprising us every step of the way.  Thank you for your continued prayers. After our appointment, we hit some shops and scooped up some amazing treasures.  . Posted by Art Of Listening - Cyprus. May 27, 2009 at 3:13 PM. Final Day in Egypt.

Prepare the Way: Hungry

http://www.scoopinguptreasures.blogspot.com/2009/05/hungry.html

Thursday, May 21, 2009. After a pretty intense day in Coptic Cairo (getting a brief history lesson on the Coptic Church, and walking through Coptic Cairo), prayer, pouring, and more pouring out, we finally settled in for dinner. Our hearts began to leap as we saw the Papa John boxes come in the door. The food has been wonderful, but right now we were getting a yearning for some "home" food. So the German host chose to order our pizzas. First pizza opened was a small cheese pizza. May 21, 2009 at 4:14 PM.

Prepare the Way: The Eagle has landed...

http://www.scoopinguptreasures.blogspot.com/2009/05/eagle-has-landed.html

Tuesday, May 19, 2009. The Eagle has landed. Soon after arriving at our destination, we were greeted to a wonderful dinner of lentil soup, an assortment of middle eastern dishes, and bread. Yummy! After eating, we were all pretty beat with so little sleep the previous 30 hours, so we retired to bed. In spite of our tiredness, we were all still very excited about what God was going to do during our stay here. Posted by Art Of Listening - Cyprus. May 19, 2009 at 5:46 AM. Much love and hugs. Sunday, May 24, 2009. Hello fellow prayers. A lot has happened since the last posting. Our time here has been awesome. And though it may sound like we're having a lot of fun (which we are), there have definitely been many intense times of prayer and ministry, which makes us ever more thankful for all your prayers. Just wanted to let you know that all is well in spite of the lack of postings. Posted by Art Of Listening - Cyprus. May 25, 2009 at 4:44 AM. So glad to hear from you! Final Day in Egypt.

Getting to the Heartland: December 2008

http://gettingtotheheartland.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 11, 2008. Apparently lots of people needed to find their snow legs. This little clip from the local paper shows that I wasn't the only one having a little trouble with the weather on Tuesday. There must be some happy medium between the hype and needless closings we frequently saw in Atlanta and this:. A little snow causes 650-plus traffic accidents in Wichita area. Source: Kansas.com: Local12-11-2008 6:32 PM. Authorities didn't hide their frustration Wednesday. Getting to the Heartland.

Getting to the Heartland: Wow, almost a full year since my last post!

http://gettingtotheheartland.blogspot.com/2010/05/wow-almost-full-year-since-my-last-post.html

Saturday, May 22, 2010. Wow, almost a full year since my last post! A whole year since my last post! A feeling that I began to experience about a month ago is beginning to get stronger and stronger: I am falling in love with this place. Not sure how or why or what it will all bring, but yes, I am falling in love with Kansas! I was driving about 40 miles southwest of home today to see a patient and the feeling I had as I viewed the wind dancing in the fields of amber topped wheat was glorious!

Saturday, July 31, 2010. Through reading Compassion: Reflection on the Christian Life. By Henri Nouwen, Donald McNell, and Douglass Morrison, and through my study of 1 Peter for our small group bible study and listening to sermon's preached at Covenant Life Church by Joshua Harris and Robin Boisvert, a theme has begun to emerge. Whenever that happens, I try to pay attention; I believe God speaks to my heart in such themes. From the 5/2/2010 sermon "The Hope/Holiness Connection" by Joshua Harris:. Be more...

My lovely daughter, with the patient prodding and help of her wonderful husband, is learning to conquer the chaos. Yes, she has inherited the curse of clutter from both of her parents. I tend to like to hide my clutter in drawers and closets, but it is still there! Anyway, she and her hubby conquered the piles of her clothes in their bedroom and got them ALL folded or hung and put away! Thanks to my IP...

Getting to the Heartland: The Blizzard that Wasn't

http://gettingtotheheartland.blogspot.com/2009/03/blizzard-that-wasnt.html

Saturday, March 28, 2009. The Blizzard that Wasn't. Earlier this month I signed up to get weather alerts text messaged to me on my cell phone. Since it was the beginning of Tornado season, I thought it was a good idea. So, Thursday afternoon at about 4:00 I 'm driving to a small town east of Wichita when the alert notification sounds on my cell phone. It said: "A Blizzard Warning has been issued for Wichita, KS". What? But the weather forcasters were insistant! And although we were concerned about what a...
