About to head out on a quick hike with Jo and the hound then it's down to business with a big stack of papers. Gotta pay for the adventures somehow. Sunday, March 1, 2015. A (very) little snow. An American Explorer: December 2014
http://scott-waylandadventures.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 15, 2014. Desert Tour 2014: The Last Supper. We're preparing our last dinner before hitting the road: Veggie pizza with a side of lamb burgers! The pizza is unique, however. The crust is- fo' reelz- cauliflower, egg and goat cheese. The topping is spinach, red onion and goat cheese. Don't be fooled. This stuff is awesome. We'll be taking some leftovers on the road, too. Eat up, velovolk! Desert Tour: Countdown thoughts. Not bad, eh? Sunday, December 14, 2014. Tuesday is now a touch bette...

An American Explorer: September 2014
http://scott-waylandadventures.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 27, 2014. We'd done this only once before, years before Django. And the year before he dropped into our lives, we pedaled the road but went no further. The distances are not great, but steepness and elevation gain make up for it. All told we did maybe six miles of hiking with 2,000 feet of climbing and 17 miles of pedaling with 2,300 ft. of climbing. The cycling involved some ouch! Django: Always the winner! Sunday, September 7, 2014. Gear Talk: TerraCycle chain tube. I'll be in long ...

An American Explorer: East Side Tour: Days eight and nine
http://scott-waylandadventures.blogspot.com/2015/06/east-side-tour-days-eight-and-nine.html
Wednesday, June 17, 2015. East Side Tour: Days eight and nine. Day eight: June 15. What is wrong with me? Why do I strain at the pedals, fight gravity in the burning sun on a bike with load tipping the scales at 80 lbs. or more? Why do these miles slip by in slow, sweaty effort? Why do I smile and think that I am astoundingly lucky to be here? Clearly, there is something wrong with me, an extra chromosome kinking my helix, an infection of the brain, a flaw in my character. We start slapping blacktop shor...

An American Explorer: August 2014
http://scott-waylandadventures.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 14, 2014. I am no superstar. I will not run ultra marathons, complete back-to-back Iron Man's (Iron Men? Has nothing to worry about. I can do this. Can't I? Maybe not. This shade is comfortable. The cooler is full back at camp. I don't need to do this, do I? But look at that crack. It's taunting you, begging you to try. That mountain pass is mocking you, daring you to clip in and start pedaling. Who knows, you might make it. A one gun salute to all who try:. Sunday, August 10, 2014.

An American Explorer: The Horror: Real Estate
http://scott-waylandadventures.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-horror-real-estate.html
Wednesday, July 15, 2015. The Horror: Real Estate. Housing in Bishop is, well,. Between Los Angeles Water and Power and the BLM, there is precious little real estate for anyone. This state of affairs keeps housing prices very high. We found that decent homes in the 1,300 sq. ft. range start at about $300k, and such places will likely need some work. That's right: $300k buys you a "fixer upper"! So that's it for now. My adventures these days are financial! Oh, I'm slowly recovering from my rib injury, and...

An American Explorer: January 2014
http://scott-waylandadventures.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 10, 2014. The miles and adventures, setbacks and discoveries have built up over the weeks. Jodi has found the climbing often difficult, mostly due to an on-going thyroid issue she is struggling to resolve, and now, for extra delight, she’s been battling a cold, lots of stuffed sinuses and general grog. By mysterious chance I seem to have dodged her viral bullet. I’ve been managing my injuries pretty well. Our celestial bodies have celestial bodies! We dropped the gear beneath a well-featu...

An American Explorer: February 2015
http://scott-waylandadventures.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. A day in Texas (Canyon). Student essays, bills, a week of work until the next outing. No complaints, really, but sometimes you want to do just a little be more. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. A taste of winter. I'm not much of a summer guy. Although I can tolerate heat, I much prefer the cool. I revel in these stormy days, hiking with patches of snow, Django nutz about everything. Good times. Saturday, February 21, 2015. New Camara: Random shotz. A couple of macro shots:.
