Homemaker in the Making: May 2012
http://homemakeritm.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Katie Rose is now one month old. What a month it has been! But I realized today that I feel as if she's always been here. She's our irreplacable little girl. And it's just the way God meant it to be. Blogging has been way at the bottom of my list of priorities this past month. Okay, okay, that's usually where it is anyway. So here are some backlogged Baptism photos:. May 5: The best moment of her life, and she sleeps through it. Meanwhile, I'm just enjoying the ride. Thank yo...

Friday, November 23, 2012. Sausage and Cheese Soup and Unscheduled Evangelical Poverty. Today we'd had a big lunch, and not yet ready for more Turkeyish delight this evening. So I made this soup from odds and ends, and it was a winner. As always, measurements are approximate. Bring to a boil:. 6 cups turkey broth. 1 butternut squash, peeled and chopped. 1 onion, chopped. Reduce heat to simmer. Tie together in cheesecloth:. Part of a cinnamon stick. Nurse the baby yet again,. 1/4 cup heavy cream. We're ta...

Homemaker in the Making: June 2012

Wednesday, June 27, 2012. In Which I Need to Take a Nap, but Don't Like to Admit It. After writing that title, I realized I'm not much better than Anthony! I’ve been feeling rather depressed lately. Really I think a big part of the problem is sleep deprivation. Husband often keeps me up rather late, the little girl keeps me up through the night, and the little boy has me up rather early. In seriousness, I know periods of little sleep are sometimes just an occupational hazard of early motherhood. There...

Homemaker in the Making: On the Eternal Consequences of a Dirty Floor
http://homemakeritm.blogspot.com/2012/01/on-eternal-consequences-of-dirty-floor.html
Monday, January 9, 2012. On the Eternal Consequences of a Dirty Floor. Some days, Mondays especially, it really does seem that "A woman's work is never done." We had a really nice weekend, weather-wise and just a nice weekend at home as a family. My husband worked on digging a raised bed (Yes, in January! For about five minutes. But it's not just the floor. Weekend evidence is everywhere. I'm sure I'm not alone in this on Monday mornings. My dream kitchen floor. I like the yellow shoes, too! I really nee...

Homemaker in the Making: April 2012
http://homemakeritm.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Well, I've had them sewn up into a quilt for a little while now but since I finally got to give it to my godbaby tonight I can post pictures of the finished product! I'm really glad with the design overall. I started before I knew Vincent was going to be a boy, but I think this looks like a boy quilt. I think it's the olive green and grey. For the top I used most of the two charm packs of Little Apples. That Ryan gave me for Christmas from the fabulous Sewn Studio. After two fals...

Homemaker in the Making: March 2012
http://homemakeritm.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 24, 2012. We're getting so close to baby time already! Only about a month left! I finished up our birth plan tonight. I'm posting it in case it would be of interest to any of you soon-to-be-giving birth women who read this blog. (Praying for you! Really, I could go on and on about how many standard procedures are just really stupid, but I shan't. At least not in this post. :) You can get a good idea of my views from the birth plan. Due Date May 1, 2012. If at any time the baby appears to ...

Homemaker in the Making: July 2011
http://homemakeritm.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 9, 2011. Ryan’s gone to Switzerland for ten whole days for work. I got to talk to him on the phone for a long time this evening, even though it was 2:30 AM there! Ryan and I both heard it distinctly, so I know it wasn’t my imagination. Very often he will sound like he’s saying certain words, but really it’s just the inflection of his voice is very good, if you know what I’m trying to say. For example, he’ll say, “I did it! Our little boy’s getting so big! This is from a year ago:. St Maria...

Homemaker in the Making: Evangelical Poverty: Part 1
http://homemakeritm.blogspot.com/2012/11/evangelical-poverty-part-1.html
Sunday, November 4, 2012. Evangelical Poverty: Part 1. We all have so much. Even those of us who are reading this wondering if the budget sheet is going to be in the negative numbers this month. If you are reading this, then count yourself among the world’s wealthy. You are literate and have internet access, even if it’s at the public library. You also have leisure time to spend reading the scribblings of some Midwestern housewife. Guilt trip, yes? Sorry, but I do have a point in beginning that way.
