The Rural Suburbanite: August 2015
http://theruralsuburbanite.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. Jezebel Ruined My Childhood. For me the best part of back to school was the school supplies! My mom was very frugal and didn't believe in anything unnecessary, but her one weakness was office supplies (still is). It was the one time of the year I was guaranteed to leave the store with something awesome. Now as a teacher I'm still a school supply junkie-no boring pens for me! I have the self confidence to laugh off the mean actions of others. When a co-worker accidentally sent ...

The Rural Suburbanite: Teacher's Aren't Martyrs
http://theruralsuburbanite.blogspot.com/2015/05/teachers-arent-martyrs.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2015. I hear complaints ranging from "we don't actually get summers off", "we do a lot of work at home", "we arrive early and stay late", "we don't get paid enough" etc. etc. and those comments frustrate me-they make the whole teaching profession look lazy and give people a bad impression of us. Kind of.but it's a responsibility you willingly took on. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Find Me On Social Media. There was an error in this gadget.

The Rural Suburbanite: Talk Derby to Me
http://theruralsuburbanite.blogspot.com/2015/05/talk-derby-to-me.html
Thursday, May 14, 2015. Talk Derby to Me. This past weekend I packed up the Jetta and headed out the Kentucky Derby-alone. In an effort to live a bit of a happier life I've been trying to get out more and do more things that make me happy. DH gets to travel all the time for work and I get insanely jealous of his fantastic trips (he's jetting off to Italy soon). Getting into the track was suprisingly easy-I walked right up to the gate, handed them my ticket and off I went into the belly of the beast. ...

The Rural Suburbanite: Mother's Day Extravaganza
http://theruralsuburbanite.blogspot.com/2015/04/mothers-day-extravaganza.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. My mom lives far, far away from me so we rarely get to celebrate Mother's Day together. Last year I drove up and surprised her for the weekend which was awesome! I kept texting my dad to let him know where I was on the drive and what my ETA was and my mom was getting suspicious because he NEVER texts! She had plenty of ideas in her head and me coming to visit wasn't one of them! She was super surprised when I walked in the door-it made my whole weekend! How about some yummy fresh...

The Rural Suburbanite: The Kroger Coupon Scam
http://theruralsuburbanite.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-kroger-coupon-scam.html
Saturday, August 8, 2015. The Kroger Coupon Scam. Recently an awesome coupon deal has been floating around Facebook offering $200.00 off your purchase of $220.00 at Kroger. A peek at the Kroger corporate page shows tons of posts from people asking if it is real or not. My newsfeed is full of people sharing the coupon, a lot of times with the message "this probably isn't real, but it can't hurt to try". So the big question is how do you avoid these scams? Next check out the official corporate page on Face...

The Rural Suburbanite: February 2015
http://theruralsuburbanite.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 27, 2015. As the title suggests our midwest weather has been a little nuts lately. Two weeks ago it was 80 degrees and today it's 13 and snowing! I love winter weather and I love warm weather-just not at the same time! The constant changes in weather cause my auto-immune diseases to flare up which makes it no fun for anyone. The more I hurt the grumpier I get-I'm just ready for the weather to be constant again. While I still have to respond to misbehavior it's helpful to at least have so...

The Rural Suburbanite: March 2015
http://theruralsuburbanite.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 25, 2015. We're so close to the finish line! I'm getting excited to get back to my regular cooking schedule! That is not a lot of money to make healthy food choices. Many of our meals were over 3.00 per serving-that would be impossible to make on our food stamp budget. I will say I'm thankful that DH and I have the resources to do a project like this and that it isn't our reality-it was way harder than I expected. Getting ready to cook up the eggs! Dinner was quick and easy but strange-i...
