Sea Salt & Stitches: Catching Up
http://www.seasaltandstitches.com/2015/05/catching-up.html
I took a bit of time away from the blog there - not intentionally, more just I didn't have very much to blog about. But I thought I'd pop in today and catch up with you all. At the end of March I had a lovely week away with my family in Spain. We were actually celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary (wow! Fit over my bump and was really comfy to wear (see photo above for proof! I also LIVED in my double gauze washi dress. Thankfully, my pregnancy so far has been relatively trouble-free, bar the o...
Sea Salt & Stitches: 1 Thing on Friday
http://www.seasaltandstitches.com/2015/02/1-thing-on-friday.html
1 Thing on Friday. Only one thing to share today - but it's a good one:. I treated myself to some luscious Liberty fabric this week (above pic) as a belated Christmas present from Robin! This print is called Betsy and I already have it in the pink colourway, but couldn't resist the green/turquoise. I bought this with the Carolyn PJ's. Is slightly rougher and doesn't have quite as silky a feel to it. But that really is me nit-picking! Now I just need to pluck up the courage to cut into the fabric - eek!

Su Sews So-So: December 2013
http://su-sews-so-so.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Friday, 13 December 2013. A Red Washi Dress. Yeay - a newly finished project to share on the blog, finally! As I suggested in a previous blog post. I have been thinking about making the Washi Dress. By Made By Rae. As it seemed to be a flattering yet relaxed dress which is just what I have been looking for (see why in this post. The pattern also comes with a cute option to cut a key-hole neckline, which on this occasion I decided to go for. A little bit tricky, but I thought since my dress was going ...

Wednesday, 28 August 2013. DIY I Do : My Wedding Reception Dress : A Cambie Muslin. In my post earlier in the week. I revealed that I had made a dress for my wedding reception. Well, although muslins aren't my favourite thing to do and I have been known not to both with them from time to time, I thought a wedding dress deserved the effort involved in making a muslin! As described in my inspiration post. Dress would be pretty much perfect for this! The only thing I would say is that occasionally you can s...

http://magpiemakes.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-oxford-conference-of-corsetry_8.html
Sunday, 8 September 2013. The Oxford Conference of Corsetry - Sunday and Hometime. As you can imagine, I was quite tired on Sunday, having gone to my room at 2am. I managed to drag myself out of bed with some help from my friend Nikki who knocked for me to make sure I didn't miss breakfast! Despite the fab food, I felt a bit ill all Sunday. Not because of anything I ate (or drank the night before! So, as you can imagine, I was getting a bit worked up. Detail of my finished corset. This is the largest sel...

Magpie Makes: 12 in 2012
http://magpiemakes.blogspot.com/2012/01/12-in-2012.html
Monday, 2 January 2012. Has had a wonderful idea: instead of resolutions for 2012, she's making SMART goals in lists of 12. 12 seems quite manageable - that's one per month - and, of course, it relates to the year (clever, eh? Being a project manager, she explains very well what SMART goals are, if you haven't heard of them before, so I'll let you check out her explanation. So, I'm thinking about my goals, my plans . What do I want to do in 2012? Skirt 1 (Simplicity 2413, paper bag waist). Apron 1 - for ...
Magpie Makes: The Great British Sewing Bee - Corsets or 'boned bodices'?
http://magpiemakes.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-great-british-sewing-bee-corsets-or.html
Monday, 23 February 2015. The Great British Sewing Bee - Corsets or 'boned bodices'? So, I've just seen a little trailer for this week's episode of The Great British Sewing Bee. And it's filled me with trepidation . This week is the one I've been waiting for - they're making corsets. Or, rather, they're making what they're calling 'boned bodices', but it looks like all the contestants are referring to them as 'corsets'. Gratuitous Patrick Grant photo. What do you think of the Sewing Bee? How to make a co...

Saturday, March 12, 2016. I've been home for about two months now. It's permanent; I'm not going back to Mongolia because I ET'd (early terminated) in February, on Valentine's day, to be specific and slightly ironic. It kind of feels like a break up and I'm still reeling from the aftermath. And yet, as I will always remind myself, things could be even worse than THIS/ be thankful for everyone and everything I have/ all those super corny inspirational sayings that are so lame and so true).
