eats of eden: July 2012
http://eats-of-eden.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 29, 2012. Dessert tends to get short-changed on Eats of Eden. It's all, OOH! LOOK AT THIS SIDE DISH! Or BEST ENTREE EVER! Oh but Tabitha, you could do some low-fat/sugar-free/low lactose baking.". Yeah And I could also gnaw on a piece of cardboard I drew a picture of a cupcake on. If I am going to take the time and the calorie hit to make and eat dessert, I want it to be as delicious and well-textured as possible. By the time the cake was in the oven, it was wine time! 1/4 teaspoon grated nu...

Cooking for One: The Perfect Soft-Boiled Egg - frolic!
http://www.frolic-blog.com/2015/02/cooking-one-perfect-soft-boiled-egg
Cooking for One: The Perfect Soft-Boiled Egg. February 6, 2015. When I was a little girl, I used to throw fits if the eggs served to me were not “juicy” enough! As an adult, I’ve become obsessed with eggs. The first time I tasted a farm fresh egg, straight from the chicken pen, I was hooked. I think an egg cooked properly is as decadent as a chocolate cake. I’ve been known to eat them for dessert! It may seem simple to some, but I’ve never been good at cooking a soft-boiled egg! Baked Eggs in France.

January 10, 2013. I am a pretty lazy cook. In fact, I used to be really intimidated by my kitchen, preferring to eat out or grab take out most nights. The dirty dishes, and long lists of ingredients always scared me away. A few years ago I started watching Jamie Olivers cooking shows and it got me excited about trying to eat more at home and experimenting with my own combinations. My sister taught me to make baked eggs. I got my own little cast iron pan. And I was sold! And Secret Aardvark Sauce. Posted ...

The Improbable Farmer: March 2011
http://www.improbablefarmer.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
I traded in my high heels for galoshes and I'm growing my own food today for a better dinner tomorrow. Monday, March 28, 2011. Meatless Monday (and you thought I forgot about it). Do you know the date of the Spring Equinox? Most people know that spring starts in March but couldn't tell you the date or why it's actually important. If you grew up in Alaska, you KNOW when the spring and fall equinox is and you REALLY know the dates for summer and winter solstice. Let me explain my point further. Answer: The...

Little Red Bike Cafe. The purpose of this site is to document our journey of building/owning/running a cafe in our beloved hometown of Portland, Oregon. Ode to the Patty Melt. I have consumed more ground beef in the past eight weeks than in the past eight years. The patty melt sandwich is to blame. Are you familiar with the patty melt? After several attempts at tweaking the traditional recipe and trying to think of a way to make this classic even better, we kept returning to the original. It is times...

Fromage: Seattle shines
http://liferightsideup.blogspot.com/2015/06/seattle-shines.html
Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. It's not that the shine went off Seattle. It's only that ever since we started making the longer drive to Portland, we have tended to head back there more often than to our much closer neighbour. But our last two quick trips to Seattle made us realize how much we missed the city. So when I discovered that PINS. That was just one of the fantastic dishes we had. But just as then, PINS played a great show, and the people there were enthusiastic. After the show ...
