Training Blog of John Rheaume: It's all about the journey

http://see-john-run.blogspot.com/2011/04/its-all-about-journey.html

Monday, April 18, 2011. It's all about the journey. It's OK. I had a great half marathon 4 weeks ago and have improved by leaps and bounds since Philly, even though the time says otherwise. The journey is what matters most - results that back it all up will just have to be postponed. So I ran high 6's, low 7's, mid 7's, high 7's, low 8's and I was on top of Heartbreak. I thought I might be able to at least keep things going at BC, but after a little of Beacon Street, I gave up.in a way. A day to reflect.

Training Blog of John Rheaume: February 2011

http://see-john-run.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 27, 2011. 2/21 - 2/27, BM Training Week #8. Monday: Off. It was just time for a day off. I was coming back from Maryland and stopped at a cool cave on the way home in PA. I thought about running after returning, but decided that a day off would serve me well. Wednesday: I took an easy run that I was originally thinking just get out the door and do a few. I ended up doing a loop that was a bit longer, but kept the pace way down. 7.2 miles. Saturday: I ran with Matt and Ryan from Ryan's pl...

Training Blog of John Rheaume: A Small Adventure

http://see-john-run.blogspot.com/2011/04/small-adventure.html

Thursday, April 21, 2011. 15 miles turned into a lot more. It was awesome. I started my ride on 110 East before turning right on Amesbury Line Road. I took a left on Merrimac Rd and took River Road into Merrimac and Amesbury. It was very nice having the Merrimack to my right. I stopped to take a shot of Maudslay from the other side. I continued on, riding across the Powwow River over by Alliance Point. Shortly after, I stopped to take another shot. I continued down, connecting with Amesbury Line Road fin...

Training Blog of John Rheaume: March 2011

http://see-john-run.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 27, 2011. 3/21 - 3/27, BM Training Week #12. There it is. I get closer to it every day. I've even literally run over it, but it's so far away approaching T-minus 3 weeks. I'm starting to become banged up, so I'm very fortunate that today was the longest run of my training, and I'm very fortunate that the training generally gets easier from here on out. Monday: Off (stomach bug continues). Tuesday: Off (pretty much recovered, but took off anyway). Saturday: Steve and I ran at an easy pace at...

First 5K | Boston 2:55

http://boston255ink.blogspot.com/2011/04/first-5k.html

Saturday, April 23, 2011. The start was as fast and as crowded as I remembered from prior years. The one thing that I knew that I'd regret about this run, if everything went according to plan, was that I'd pretty much miss everything that happened around me. I was already zoned out and so focused on my goal that I didn't even pay attention to the early crowds and the party atmosphere. I don't even recall seeing/hearing the drunk bikers at the biker bar! That folks would be a marathon PR split for me.

The Hills Are Alive | Boston 2:55

http://boston255ink.blogspot.com/2011/04/hills-are-alive.html

Sunday, April 24, 2011. The Hills Are Alive. The tweak in my hamstring at the half-way mark turned out to be a false alarm. I was just passing gas and something slid down my legs. No worries. I was now alone and running my own race. I got through the 25K in 1:39:48. Another 20 minute 5K in the books, but the worse was yet to come as I entered Newton. All of those repeats on Catamount Rd paid off as I kept up the same effort going over 128. 1 down, 3 to go. I also continued to drench myself with water at ...

The Half | Boston 2:55

http://boston255ink.blogspot.com/2011/04/half.html

Saturday, April 23, 2011. Brendan and I rolled through the 10K, 15K, and 20K marks like two well-oiled sumo wrestlers going down a water slide (hard to believe that there's no image for this description on the Internets). Like I said previously, everything for much of this race was going to be a blur to me, and this section was no different. I only recalled a couple of memorable items of note through this stretch.. I think we were finally able to relax now. Once Brendan dropped back, I took that as my c...

Pre-Race | Boston 2:55

http://boston255ink.blogspot.com/2011/04/pre-race.html

Thursday, April 21, 2011. After dozing off for what felt like a whole five minutes, I was wide awake and ready to take on Boston 2:49:59! My bags were packed, the dogs were eaten, and the breakfast walked (Yeah, I know, I'm riding this joke like a dying water buffalo in a persistence hunt). I gave Rachel a quick kiss before she headed off to real work. She told me not to come home if I didn't break 2:50. Ah, the love of my life! My dad had the day off from work (supposedly he works for the only company i...

Left on Boylston | Boston 2:55

http://boston255ink.blogspot.com/2011/04/left-on-boylston.html

Monday, April 25, 2011. The final, final, final hill on the Boston course is the relatively short stretch up Hereford before you make the left onto Boylston. I've cramped up on this hill in the past, but not today. Today was different. I still had something left in the tank to get me over the hump. Cut the tangent on the turn, look out for that pothole, don't turn too wide. 35 miles, huh? I should be able to do that within 1:40 with fresh legs. I couldn't believe how close this was actually going to be.

The Start | Boston 2:55

http://boston255ink.blogspot.com/2011/04/start.html

Friday, April 22, 2011. It was a little after 9:15AM when Bash, Chris, and I made our way down Grove St towards our corrals. The general layout of the area appeared to be different this year, I'm guessing that it was setup that way to accommodate the newly implemented three wave start. It actually took us about 10 minutes of wandering around before we were even able to find Grove St! Corral #2 is directly across from the church where the elites hang out before the race. Even then I couldn't catch a g...

Right on Hereford | Boston 2:55

http://boston255ink.blogspot.com/2011/04/right-on-hereford.html

Sunday, April 24, 2011. The GLRR mystery man at Mile 22 was none other than GLRR legend David Oliver! I didn't recognize him at first because he was wearing the prototype GLRR racing singlet (gotta get me one of those! Once I did though, it was a whole new race for me. On a side note, this is another reason for you to sign up for a running club! So why not join the chickens. Once again I found myself all alone among hundreds of other runners. I took my third and final GU before hitting the 40K mark in 2:...

~Learning to live Vegetarian From The Ground Up~

Learning to live Vegetarian From The Ground Up. Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Curry Roasted Pumpkin Seeds. Hope everyone had a great Halloween! Sadly, I didn't get to dress up this year but what's even more sad was that I had NO trick or treaters. Guess that's just what this world has come to these days. One of my other favorite Halloween past times are carving pumpkins (while watching scary movies and eating yummy food. It is Halloween after all. And I was right. Curry Roasted Pumpkin Seeds. 1 T canola oil.

Thursday, February 14, 2013. I hope you are all having a lovely day. As part of our February fourteenth decor, I made an eye-chart inspired poster featuring a quote from Elizabeth Barrett Browning. "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways/I love thee.". I resized my image for you, just in case you need a last minute valentine. Download and print right here. For personal use only. Thanks! Sunday, February 10, 2013. Beauty and the Boys: the challenge of raising a "nice guy". Straightening my hair.".

Friday, April 24, 2015. On Tuesday, January 27th. Hyrum woke up as common around 7 am. That day though, as it was only a leak. I continued to leak throughout the morning, especially when I would pick up or interact with Hyrum. At around 10:45. While putting Hyrum down for a nap at around 11:30. Amazingly, a little while before Sharon had called and asked what I needed to do to get ready. Riley had told a number of people on Sunday. That we thought Levi might come on Tuesday. I decided I had better get so...
