it's narin!: August 2011

http://itsnarins.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 18, 2011. But, in theory. This whole blogging deficiency is about to change. Despite deciding to come back to Melbourne this time last year after tiring of the feeling of starting again that came every year teaching English in Japan, I'm packing my life up and heading there yet again. Am I crazy? While I can't guarantee more adventures that will equal discovering Jesus. Or even days at work that are as. And of course, the resumption of my favourite pastime. it's narin!: fuk!

http://itsnarins.blogspot.com/2009/08/fuk.html

Wednesday, August 05, 2009. Aaah, Fukuoka. When I first looked up information about what to do in Fukuoka, other than it's "city in a city" shopping centre, not that many sights came up that made me that interested in visiting the city. The only thing came that kept coming up was that they were famous for food. Would that really be enough to entertain me for two whole days? Oh, how little I know me. Dammit, I was hoping to go to Fukuoka just to say I've now visited every one of the main islands of Japan,...

it's narin!: trusting my instincts

http://itsnarins.blogspot.com/2010/01/trusting-my-instincts.html

Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Sure, I've technically been studying Japanese for like 12 years now (though high school doesn't really count, so shave off 5 years), but even still, I tend to underestimate how much I know. So even though I can take a shot and try to guess the actual meaning of what people said, I usually ask people to explain what they meant so I can make sure I understand it. In my mind, I was trying to fit the pieces together. 性= sex, gender. Was he saying he was asexual? Or a lack of sex?

Friday, December 09, 2011. A friend told me about 'Buddhist Disneyland' a while back, but I didn't really pay much attention then. I just figured Buddhism and Disneyland were mutually exclusive, so anything that used both words in the same sentence just didn't seem. right. Thursday, August 05, 2010. I'm not really a religious person, but when people ask me what I want to see before I leave Japan, I always answer with the same thing: Jesus. Not in the metaphorical sense, or in the spiritual sense of finding Jesus inside of myself or anything. I'm talking about Jesus' final resting place, which as everyone knows, is here in Japan. Wednesday, September 07, 2011. An ikea lover's dream. This would be a post showing you pictures of everything in my place, but seeing the lack of anything. Semantically Loaded

Sunday, June 9, 2013. No concept better expresses the essence of reality than the Chinese yin-yang. For reality as we know it is nothing if not dichotomized: anything that exists in a way that can be specifically identified or explicitly defined manifests the dichotomy of “to be or not to be” (alive-dead, 1-0, etc.). The irony is that yin-yang is so fundamental to life that we, literate creatures that we are, are driven to construct rhetorically useful but essentially false. It seems possible, if not pro...
