Thursday, September 29, 2011. Tiger prawns – 12 (with shell and head intact). Ginger – 3’’ piece. Garlic cloves - 4. Red chilly powder – 3tsp. Black peppercorns – 10. Lemon juice – 2 tsp. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp. 1 Clean the prawns and keep aside. 2 Grind the ginger, pepper corns, curry leaves and garlic. Mix with chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt, lemon juice and little water and make a thick smooth paste. 5 Serve the hot. Prawns become hard if they are cooked for too long. Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Raw white rice (Sona Masoori) -2 cups. Grated fresh coconut -2 cups. Sugar – ¼ cup. Cooked rice – ½ cup. Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp. Yeast – 1 tsp. Salt – 1pinch. 1Soak the white rice in water for about 5 hrs. 2 Drain the soaked rice and grind the rice to a fine paste with grated coconut, sugar, cooked rice and water. 3 The batter should be of the right consistency( idly batter consistency). 4When the grinding is almost done, add yeast, cardamom powder and salt.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Beef – 1 kg. Coriander powder -2 tsp. Chilly powder - 1 tsp. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp. Pepper powder – ¼ tsp. Fennel seeds – ¼ tsp. Crushed garlic – 1 tsp. Chopped ginger -1 tsp. Sliced shallots -7 nos. Lime Juice – 1 or 2 tsp. Fresh coconut(thinly sliced) - optional. Green chillies- - 3(slit). Curry leaves -2 stalks. 2 Cook the marinated beef with little water in the pressure cooker for 15 minutes. 3 If the beef is cooked, drain the excess water. Beauty of nature through my lens.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Bell pepper – ½. Ginger-garlic paste – ½ tsp. Cumin seeds - 1tsp. Red chilly powder- ½ tsp. Salt (or to taste). 1 Heat oil in a pan and season with cumin seeds and curry leaves. 2 Sauté the chopped onion until it turns glassy. Add the chopped bell pepper, ginger garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell goes away. 3 Add the chopped tomatoes along with turmeric, chilly powder and salt, stir for a couple of minutes and then add the shredded parotta and toss for a few minutes.
