I’m back! | Kelly Learns to Sew
https://kellylearnstosew.wordpress.com/2012/11/15/685
Kelly Learns to Sew. An unexpected private knitting lesson. Holiday To-Knit List →. November 15, 2012. So, I had a baby. He’s a toddler now. And we moved to a new condo. And I haven’t been sewing at all (thus the total and complete lack of posting).*. However, I have gotten back into knitting! It’s the Aesderina. Pattern by Jane Richmond. Yes, I *bought* a pattern (and browsing through her website, I want to buy all of her patterns)! I have also started knitting socks! I took a 4-week class at Loopy Yarns.

Kelly Learns to Sew. Newer posts →. February 22, 2011. I know it’s been a while, but at long last I finished my Pendrell blouse. A few weeks ago, I had it mostly done, and it looked like I would be finished quickly. But then I failed to read directions properly and got mighty discouraged. This is definitely not the fault of the pattern, which is clearly written, or the fault of Tasia’s Sewalong. Close-up of the neckline. Whoa Super blurry picture. To find out more)! February 5, 2011. I haven’t aban...

Holiday To-Knit List | Kelly Learns to Sew
https://kellylearnstosew.wordpress.com/2012/11/27/holiday-to-knit-list
Kelly Learns to Sew. November 27, 2012. Stay tuned very, very soon for the reveal of my socks. In the meantime, though, I have stupidly agreed to knit too many things for Christmas.🙂 So, here’s my to-knit list:. Socks for my dad. I’m not totally insane; these will be worsted weight socks. I’ll probably use the basic sock recipe I used for my socks but with far fewer stitches cast on (48? And bigger needles (6? Or the Blue Leaf Headband. Hat for Brian. Probably the Man Hat. In the homestretch | Kelly Learns to Sew
https://kellylearnstosew.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/in-the-homestretch
Kelly Learns to Sew. An unexpected private knitting lesson →. July 19, 2011. Picture from The Brown Stitch. My sweater will look exactly the same. Except, you know, without the stripes. So being pregnant has seriously zapped my crafting mojo. I was way to tired in the first trimester, and then my husband has been home for most of the second trimester, so I’ve been spending time with him and preparing the house for the baby. But now that I’m in the third(! I also started a Pine Forest Baby Blanket. But, t...

The Polls are Closed! | The Messy Method
https://messymethodsewing.wordpress.com/2010/12/02/the-polls-are-closed
The Bishop Method of Clothing Construction, from a messy perspective. The Polls are Closed! Thanks everyone for your feedback! A resounding chorus cried out for no underwaist and I will be heeding them. The pro-underwaist movement liked them (or the idea of them) because the underwaist helps hold skirts in place when you have a rectangular body shape. Since I got 99 problems but an ill-defined waist ain’t one, this doesn’t color my decision-making. What was going on back in the Sixties? December 2, 2010.

The Bishop Belt Tutorial | The Messy Method
https://messymethodsewing.wordpress.com/2010/11/29/the-bishop-belt-tutorial
The Bishop Method of Clothing Construction, from a messy perspective. The Bishop Belt Tutorial. Dress and belt in action! What a thing to happen. Here is a quick and dirty illustration of how to make The Bishop Sash. Sew two strips of coordinating fabric, right sides together. Your finished sash will be about two-thirds as long and two-thirds as wide as the resulting piece, so plan accordingly. Now, fold the upper left-hand corner down like you were going to cut out a square for a cootie catcher. Keep pi...

A simple skirt | Kelly Learns to Sew
https://kellylearnstosew.wordpress.com/2011/05/20/a-simple-skirt
Kelly Learns to Sew. I finished the sweater! In the homestretch →. May 20, 2011. Back in November, I bought some black Kona Cotton from Sew, Mama, Sew. With the intention of sewing another Beignet. Skirt I even bought buttons and lining to go with it from Fabric.com. Well, when I got pregnant, I quickly realized that a Beignet was not going to fit me for long. So, I made a new plan, to sew a simple elastic waist skirt. It took some time, but I finally made my black skirt. You can see in the pic above (ki...

B5147 Dress, sewn and worn! | The Messy Method
https://messymethodsewing.wordpress.com/2010/11/16/b5147-dress-sewn-and-worn
The Bishop Method of Clothing Construction, from a messy perspective. B5147 Dress, sewn and worn! Holy cow, I just read the pattern description again I bet I cut out view D, the gentle A-line calf-length dress, not view C, the one-inch-below-knee sheath. What is WRONG WITH ME? That explains so much. Sigh. I spent the whole time thinking, ‘Great Scot, how odd that this dress comes down to my calf when I only added 2″ in length and I am 5’10! 8217; I am so very, very special. November 16, 2010. I'd like to be there right now. I've been thinking the past few days about how our personalities as adults are really formed by the kinds of adults our parents were. Or weren't. This is bad for several reasons. First off, because it's freaking exhausting to be in charge 24/7, especially when you admit it to yourself...
