La Sewista!: March 2015
http://lasewist.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. Vogue 8499 #2, the beige linen skirt. I am so stinkin' happy with this skirt! I think it looks quite upscale and does more so in person when you see the yummy linen up close. Since this is the same pattern I reviewed in the last post I am going to focus on what I did differently. First, my apologies to Mrs. Charisma/Smith. Yes, I whipped out the simple black version on an afternoon but this puppy took me all day, 9-5, and I loved every minute. What took so much longer? It actually...

La Sewista!: January 2015
http://lasewist.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. A long bound zip! I used two separating zippers. The zippers did not need to separate as their ends would be covered and secured by the bottom gusset. So why did I? Because it is much easier to install this zipper if you are able to work on each half separately and a separating zip enabled that. I bought two 28 inch separating jacket zips. Here you can see how the zips "kiss" each other very nicely. That diagonal fold facilitates that. Now to install the other side. This whole...

La Sewista!: The No grain jean jacket continues.
http://lasewist.blogspot.com/2015/08/i-thought-i-would-share-peak-of-progress.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. The No grain jean jacket continues. This gives you a peak at some of the "painting" if you can call it that. I wanted just blotches of color, much like my original inspiration. I used Lumiere textile paints and once heat set they softened up nicely. Next time I will mix them with fabric medium to soften them up. Every project there is something to learn, right? Well, I am using my workhorse Kenmore which doesn't have such a foot while my Pfaff is at the spa in New Hampshire. I...

Must Have Needle and Thread: Summer sewing bug

Must Have Needle and Thread. The goal of this blog is to chronicle my effort to sew a fabulous handmade wardrobe and share all the things I discover about myself and the world! Friday, May 10, 2013. Why is it that when warm weather comes around I always get the itch to stitch? Does this happen to anybody else? This past spring I have been nose to the books because I went back to school. Despite taking only three classes I have been working pretty hard! Isn't the model fabulously gorgeous? After all this ...

Moving . . . What do you think? On: August 19, 2010. At the ASG Conference, I took a class on painting silk. Loved it! Then, today, when I was at JoAnne Fabrics (only went to pick up a few bra inserts; came out $111.00 later . . .) I heard this fabric calling my name –. Light bulbs flickered and then shone bright! I picked up a lovely embroidered organza –. And of course I had the paints from a previous shopping trip –. So I painted a section of the lace purple, and a section blue –. Your post sounds so&...
