Sewing Empire – Page 2 – Regency & Historical Needlework.

https://sewingempire.wordpress.com/page/2

Regency and Historical Needlework. HSM Re-Do: The Finished Regency Ensemble. Thursday, December 31st, 2015. Finally, the dress is complete. I wore it quite extensively over the holidays and, just now, my dad volunteered to take some pictures for you. :) Now I can show it all to you, at long last. Yay! As for that, here are the two photos I liked best and the challenge details for the Historical Sew Monthly:. The finished early Regency gown. A look at the back (and out the window). And the back view.

And, one day before the next exam, I am back with the long overdue corset update: Tonight I finally got around to ironing my fabric (yay! Regency and Historical Needlework. The Clandestine Regency Bonnet: A Quick Making-Of. Tuesday, July 14th, 2015. Without me noticing, the next exam season has crept up on me. So, the blogging and corset-making have fallen a bit short of late. But I am still here and was very happy to receive all the positive feedback on the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. You guys are all amazing sewers and bloggers so it was really, really hard for me to stick to just ten nominations. :). Now, it was time to deci...

An Edwardian Apron How-To – Sewing Empire

Regency and Historical Needlework. An Edwardian Apron How-To. Friday, May 15th, 2015. Friday, May 15th, 2015. With the pinafore apron as good as finished, I am now taking a moment to tell you some more about its make-up. Since there do not seem to be that many Edwardian pinafore patterns around, this post will provide a brief mini-tutorial. Perhaps it will inspire some of you to create your own, very pretty, pinafore apron. :). So,why did we invent plastic-coated apron fabrics again? Instead of the Madap...

I Will Start My Corset … Tomorrow – Sewing Empire

https://sewingempire.wordpress.com/2015/06/08/i-will-start-my-corset-tomorrow

Regency and Historical Needlework. I Will Start My Corset … Tomorrow. Monday, June 8th, 2015. Wednesday, June 10th, 2015. The time has come: I am finally out of good excuses for not starting the Laughing Moon Regency corset. My motivator to get this project rolling at last is June’s HSM challenge, which is aptly named “Out Of My Comfort Zone”. Its goal is to make a fashion item from a period that is new to you, or employing a technique you have not used before. The LMM Corded Regency Corset pattern.

Newer posts →. 1490s Borgia dress – costume study. September 10, 2016. Have you seen the Showtime series “The Borgias”? I know it’s a few years old but I don’t care). It’s a wonderful series About the 15th century pop Alexander VI and it’s full of betrails, sex, murder but most of all gorgeous costumes. As far as history is concerned the show does lack a bit (inspired by the life of Alexander, would be a more accurate description), but costume wise they pretty much nailed it. And it looks beautiful.

The next thing to tackle after the skirt. Was the body linens, or the smock. Actually the next thing I made was the bodice, but since that would be considered the “head piece” I’m keeping the suspense by holding on to it a bit longer). The only thing you see of the smock in the picture is the folded-up sleeve. Leave a Reply...

I don't need another dress said no one, ever. Vaguely victorian chemise →. First Romantic corset mock. August 8, 2015. I ended up going with Past Patterns 708. It’s probably a little late for the era, most evidence points to something more like the earlier regency patterns. But I like that it had a busk and was strapless, and I thought I would get a leeetle more waist definition with it compared to a more regency-esque pattern. So we could have a gore-sewing party together…). Or this, where I did both!

Flowery cotton Jacket (18th century). Crazy Hedgehog wig →. June 2, 2013. For the 11th challenge on “The historical Sew Fortnightly” – Rectangels – I decided to make something quite simple. I’ve been so busy and stressed lately with my previous (over achieving) dresses, so I needed to take it a little easy this time. So what will be more simple and fit the theme more then a quilted petticoat. I’m really proud of my time management this time since I made this petticoat the night before me and my sis...

Jewelry fit for a Queen. November 2, 2016. Earlier this year, when planing one of the major costumes (If you follow me on Instagram. My well known love of fast progress made me decide to start the “Sew 17th century challenge” with one of the faster pieces – the skirt. Close-up of the skirt. I even got enough left (after the skirt) to piece out a 17th century bodice at a later date. I started by cutting two skirt lengths of the fabric and stitched them together. Then I ...
