Sewing in the Suburbs: November 2010

http://sewinginthesuburbs.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Sewing in the Suburbs. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. I learned how to knit! I went to the knitting group and a very helpful person taught me. It was awesome! Now, I really only know how to knit.not purl or cable or anything fancy at all. In fact, I don't even know how to end the thing. But a wee little scarf is in the works. Only 16 stitches wide so, obviously, it's for one of the girls. Anyway, stepping down from the novice's soapbox now. Anyway, planning some fun things! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Sewing in the Suburbs. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Sunglasses for kids- 2 for $5 at The Children's Place. You can't beat that for some super cute, retro-polka dot little numbers! I think that's where I've bought them since my oldest was born. I will say though, that we always buy a size up.maybe I have big headed kids, ok? That just means they're smart, right? Yes, it does. What was I going to make with it? It's for sleeping and drooling on in the car- we're going function over fashion on this one. The answe...

Sewing in the Purple Room

Sewing in the Purple Room. Saturday, March 14, 2009. Originally uploaded by sewinginthepurpleroom. Here's my first block from my "Bee Inspired" swap. Rachel sent this awesome fabric from Pat Sloan called "Nikki", and requested pinwheels. I have never made pinwheels before, so it was fun to learn a new technique. Thankfully, I made a practice block before I cut into Rachel's fabrics, because I messed up horribly! I hope she likes it! Thursday, February 26, 2009. Tuesday, February 24, 2009. This quilt has ...

Sewing in the shade

Sewing in the shade. Sunday, August 9, 2015. I am a little bored with plain t-shirts so I decided to make a few changes to a pattern that I know fits well. I used two fabrics, the laguna knit. And a slightly fuzzy rayon knit from my stash to make this shirt. Using the plantain pattern. I attached the strip to the front halves of the shirt. I decided to do the same operation on the sleeves, but make gathers instead of tucks. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. My second attempt is the Papercut Sway dress. Of the P...

I bought myself a pair of way-too-long jeans. And I used this tutorial:. Http:/ www.kaylaksthriftyways.com/the-not-so-nerdy-way-to-hem-jeans/. It was so easy! Seriously awesome. I think it took 20 minutes. My hat is off to Kayla and her wonderful tutorial. Ok, I realize this has nothing to do with quilting at all. For a few reasons. I think you ...
