I was walking through the aisle at Whole Foods the other day, looking for inspiration for dinner and saw these free recipe cards hanging over by the corn. I made it for lunch yesterday and it was VERY tasty. A true keeper. 4 ears grilled corn on the cob. 1 C chopped heirloom tomatoes. 1/2 cup chopped red onion. 1 jalepeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped. I love noodle...

A little of this, a little of that, with lots of food in between. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Candy chat- part 3. Dark Chocolate Orange Fudge has been my Christmas candy stand-by for, I don't know, at least 10 years. It is always a hit and was a great recipe find. I can't even remember where I found the original recipe. maybe in a magazine ad somewhere? You can find it at gourmet kitchen stores and online. Dark Chocolate Orange Fudge. 2 tablespoons butter or margarine. 1 ½ cup granulated sugar. Line an 8-...

joie de vivre: Easter Dinner

http://sffoodiegirl.blogspot.com/2008/03/easter-dinner.html

A little of this, a little of that, with lots of food in between. Sunday, April 13, 2008. I've been meaning to post about our Easter dinner for weeks now but we left for Mexico a couple of days after and then life has been nonstop ever since we stepped in the door from our return flight! Anyway, better late than never, right? Usually we have a number of friends over for dinner, where we all take a dish or two, and really "fancy" it up. Here are some pics from our house last year. 1 1/2 tablespoons unflav...

joie de vivre: May 2011

http://sffoodiegirl.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

A little of this, a little of that, with lots of food in between. Thursday, May 19, 2011. One of my current favorite salads is at a place called "Blue Barn". Well, I had a hankering for this salad the other day and tried to remember what went inside, and threw this together. It was so tasty. Here is the picture of my leftovers the next day when, unfortunately, the pita chips were all gone already. It was still really good, though! Broken pita chips (be generous! Do you have a favorite salad?

http://sffoodiegirl.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

A little of this, a little of that, with lots of food in between. Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Butternut Squash Bread Pudding. I made this excellent bread pudding. The sauce is made out of evaporated milk cooked until thick and brown, sweetened condensed milk and cream. Very tasty. This would be very good with just maple syrup as well. What a great dish for a holiday brunch! Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Veggie tray with Scallion Dip. Cream of Mushroom Soup. Heritage Turkey with Bacon-Herb and Cider Gravy.

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things - Robert Brault. Friday, March 30, 2012. We finally got winter last week, with back to back storms, so we rented a little cabin near Yosemite and headed to the mountains for a few days. It was perfect! The girls each got their own bedrooms, which they loved, and there was an outdoor jacuzzi on a covered patio, which we took full advantage of! Why is it such a comfort to be in the mountains for a few days? A couple...

Wednesday, May 20, 2009. While in Hawaii we went on a catamaran ride out to see dolphins and go snorkeling. It was amazing. The weather was fantastic, we saw 80 dolphins, sea turtles, and so many beautiful fish. We took a day to go for a drive up to the North Shore. We went to Laie to see the LDS. Honolulu temple. Beautiful isn't it. My favorite is pina colada with ice-cream. It was a happy day. Matsumoto's. Is definitely a favorite tourist spot and we loved it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things - Robert Brault. Thursday, January 2, 2014. Dec 24: San Alfonso Del Mar. The biggest swimming pool in the world! Unfortunately, their coastal summers are a lot like San Francisco and it was cold and foggy! We walked over to the indoor part of the pool (the swim caps are a requirement). And sat in the hot tub for a spell. And you can see who the "good" parent is who joined her! Dec 25: Punta Arenas. Boned out pigs head, seasoned, wrapped up into roast, trussed, roasted, cooled, then sliced thin. Boy do i love my job. At this point the pigs head is wrapped up and stuffed with herbs. the head to the left is shaped only because of the way it is rolled up (no bones). to the right is obviously the skull of the pig. Did you spot the pigs kidneys?
