So I split it up because the last post was already pretty picture heavy. And I have an obsession to share. So I wanted to be able to put LOTS AND LOTS of pictures of it on the blog so.a new post was created with that in mind. Are you ready? After eating lunch, we headed down more stairs and reached, TADA! Do you have an idea yet? A big turtle-shaped rock!

Pocket Full of Posies. Friday, November 28, 2008. The Karmapa's Temple. We went on Wednesday as a group. I just uploaded an entry I typed up at the beginning of the month but could never upload for one reason or another, but I didn't realize it would post it way back where it was originally supposed to be uploaded so.it's there. It's about monkeys! Anyway, THIS entry is about Thanksgiving! That's where you thank the turkey and then eat it! I had an Indian version of "Chicken cordon bleu" that was really ...

Pocket Full of Posies. Friday, May 16, 2014. Hiroshima Day 1: Shukkeien Gardens. We took the shinkansen to Hiroshima, and were seated behind a mother and her small daughter, who was ADORABLE and would peek through the seats to make faces at us. It was a rather quiet ride other than that; we ate bentos for lunch and read and caught up journals and probably napped. Bento lunch, though I didn't eat it all. Ariel demonstrating that there is more space than pictured :). My cute cousin :). It's a little crab!

Pocket Full of Posies. Sunday, December 8, 2013. Kyoto Day 2: Ginkakuji, the Silver Temple. After The Golden Temple we headed back to the bus stop and waited around for the bus to head off to Ginkakuji. The Silver Temple. This was at the bus station so we could know how far out each bus was:. We sat over the wheel-well. It was pretty high up. There was a bit of a longer walk from the station to Ginkakuji, but there were nice little Nature Preservation walks along the way and fun things to see. There was ...

Pocket Full of Posies. Friday, January 16, 2015. Shrines, Stairs, Spiders. Enoshima was a place suggested to us by someone who had been in Japan multiple times, so today was the day that we headed over and checked it out. It's a little island just off the coast of Fujisawa, which is a large tourist area about a 50 minute ride from Shinjuku. At the Fujisawa station. Someone crocheted these little outfits for the metal birds decorating this rail. Cute. Enoshima in the distance. We even found the big wallet!

Pocket Full of Posies. Monday, November 25, 2013. Kyoto Day 1 - Travels, Sanjusangen-do, Delicious Food! So we took a train from Hakone to a place called Odawara, where we were to catch the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Kyoto. We had some time, so we restocked on food stuff and then hung around on the platform where there was Nobody. It was really weird, because the train platforms everywhere we had gone thus far had always had people. Always. A little guide for lining up for the train. Yummy strawberry m...

Pocket Full of Posies. Thursday, October 30, 2008. Home Away from Home. Bah, I get so behind in updating here that I want to mesh five billion things into one post.which doesn't work very well. So I'll stick with one and just update again soon! At least, that's the plan. We'll see how it pans out. Today's topic: Host Families since I've said I'd talk about them for about a month now. I adore my host family; they are great! I'm always blown away. Thursday, October 16, 2008. Food, Glorious Food! Ok, I know...

Pocket Full of Posies. Sunday, August 31, 2014. Shinjuku Take Two and Shibuya. We took the shinkansen (bullet train of epic speeds) from Hiroshima back up to Shinjuku, where we checked back into Hotel Tateshina since it was cheap, we knew where it was, and our first stay was so positive. It did not disappoint us the second stay either! We got in pretty late so headed to get dinner at Momo's Paradise for shabu-shabu as recommended by Kyle. Thanks Kyle! Doesn't that look like fun? It was on both counts!
