A chronicle of events in the life of a seminarian. Wednesday, October 26, 2005. So many things I just don't get about this place. It's not the subject matter, I can follow it OK, but the way they organize the process has been confusing me. Spiritual Formation clearly makes no sense, but it's a pass/fail class and attendance is really all that matters. I know I’m not merely negative, yet it seems like I am the only one who is at all unfavorable to consensus opinions (on minor issues). This isn't a forum f...

A chronicle of events in the life of a seminarian. Sunday, March 18, 2007. This is my approximate sermon for this morning. There may be some troubles with it, I'm really still jet lagged. Worship at the Cost of Freedom. Prayer: Father, may your Spirit bless the words now delivered unto waiting ears. May you dwell in the hearts of all who hear this message, this message which is your Gospel, given freely to your people this day. We spent those days in Phang Rang visiting the people of the eastern Cham....

A chronicle of events in the life of a seminarian. Thursday, November 17, 2005. There is a fundamental problem when great work is rated at 90%. I believe Dr. Sunquist caps his generosity at that number. Then if you prove you are actually smarter than he is you get a 95% and if you present your work on a stone tablet without chisel marks you might go up as high as 99%. Ever hear of a steal at twice the price? I'm not sure what that really means, but I think it applies here. This just means the standar...

A chronicle of events in the life of a seminarian. Wednesday, January 18, 2006. Anyway, back to the story. A second year student posted to the blog with a review of Dr Gagnon's homosexuality position. She says he's an excellent teacher but then goes on to imply that a man in an influential position like his (an influential seminary professor? Posted by gezelligepriester at 10:23. A chronicle of events in the life of a seminarian. Thursday, April 05, 2007. That didn’t make a lot of sense to me then and it doesn’t now. What are these people suggesting? That modern advances in medical science, nutrition, and safety research as well as the eradication of various deadly viruses, the relatively lower casualty figures of modern warfare and the growing unpopularity of capital punishment are all bad things? More of us can live longer! So what do you say, Grant? Why is tolerance a problem?
